105 Gibson Centre is the operating unit for Toronto Christian Community Church, and has been since 2013. We are a community care centre that services diverse clients and our community. Our Behavioral Services team, led by our Clinical Director who is a Registered Behaviour Analyst serves neurodivergent children, including children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), in developing essential skills

that have the potential to improve clients’ quality of life, using Applied Behaviour Analysis across various settings. The whole project is operated and aligned with the Ontario Autism Program(OAP). The current project specifically targets social skills within group settings. Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) treatment is an evidence-based practice using the scientific principles of behaviour to treat behavioural needs in individuals with various developmental disabilities, most commonly, Autism Spectrum Disorder. ABA can be used to teach a variety of skills, including but not limited to, communication, social and play, functional living and adaptive, and academic skills, and reduction in challenging behaviour. Treatment is individualized to the specific strengths and needs of the client, and treatment decisions are based on ongoing data collection, analysis, and collaboration with the treatment team.

🍎 the program features social coaching for building and maintaining friendships, as well as care giver support, giving parents tools to support social growth in their child’s life.

📞Our ABA team will call you to schedule a free telephone intake.
Both the child and the parent/caregiver must attend the telephone intake. During this call, our clinical staff will decide with the parent/caregiver if the program is suitable.

📌Children will be able to practice the social skills they have learned in the PEERS® Social Skills Group within various community-based social activities. Our behavioral coaches provide practical and interactive training within a variety of social activities that change week-to-week to promote generalization and maintenance of skills. This will be a place where children can practice their newly learned social skills in a safe environment with real-time guidance from our clinical team, while having fun with the peers at the same time. Our activities will be tailored to the interests and skill level of the group. Peer interaction, teamwork, and positive relationship building will be encouraged.

📋Check out the overview for our upcoming OAP ABA program! We have three programs available for preschool, adolescents and their parents!

✅PEERS® Social Skills Group focuses on helping preschool and adolescents to build essential skills to develop and maintain healthy and meaningful friendships.

✅ Caregiver Support Group brings a space for all caregivers who may share similar experiences and struggles, and to give advices on how to support your child.

✅ Social Activities Group focuses on providing practical and interactive training within a variety of social activities that changes weekly promote generalization and maintenance of skills.

We will be talking about each program in detail for the next few weeks, so stay tuned!
