Very interesting development!

The Town of Pictou has passed second and final reading of amendments to its Off-Highway Vehicle By-law.

The changes allow licensed and insured off-highway vehicles to operate on all town streets as part of a one-year pilot project. Drivers must follow posted speed limits and may only operate their vehicles during daylight hours.

Mayor Jim Ryan and council say they have been in contact with the RCMP regarding enforcement of the new by-law. Drivers who fail to follow the rules could face fines or other appropriate penalties.

Before heading onto the trail, take time to understand your vehicle.
Know how your ATV or Side-by-Side accelerates, brakes, and handles different terrain.
Familiarity improves control and helps prevent accidents.

Take time to practice, review your owner’s manual, and ride within your limits.

Stay Safe. Respect the Trails.
