Did you know Spyer Road in Summerside is named in honour of Lieutenant James Spyer who served his country in World War I and World War II? Born in England but lived at 14 Euclid Ave. here in London. He was an orderly at Westminster Hospital. Enlisted for World War I on November 3rd 1914 in Stratford, Ontario at the age of 21. He died while on active service with the Veterans Guard of Canada on August 18th, 1943. He was 49 years old.

Yard material collection next week! Have your yard material at the curb Monday morning by 7:00 am so you don’t miss out when they come by to collect it which is often first thing Monday but could be any time up to and including next Saturday.

The City asks that you place plant trimmings, brush, leaves in kraft paper bags, garbage cans or certified compostable bags. NO grass clippings. Cut brush to a length of less than 1 m (39”) and tie in bundles with string or rope. Limbs must be less than 10 cm (4”) in diameter. Did you know McNeil Rd. & McNeil Pl. in Summerside are named in honour of Private Cecil Daniel McNeil? His wife Ella and him lived at 487 Richmond St. (a few doors down from the Grand Theatre). He enlisted in 1942 in the 10th Canadian Mobile Hospital. He drowned in Holland on August 9th 1945 when retreating Germans blew up the d***s. He was 35 years old.
