You may have noticed that the NCA has been quiet this year. It is bittersweet to share that we have officially disbanded our community association. (Reasons below.) Thank you so much to the volunteers and community members who have made it such a special organization over the years!
Why are we closing?
❤ Ongoing lack of response to new member invitations and calls for leadership. (Many of our members were ready to move on, and we had no one to replace them!)
❤ Evolution of our mission (the NCA originated as a community advocacy group to address road speeds and lighting in the neighbourhood!)
❤ Many of our most popular events don't require a formal community association. For example, any individual can apply for an outdoor movie night or the Neighbourhood Decision Making programs run by the City of London.
❤ Amazing grassroots activities are already being organized outside the NCA. For example, the skating rink was handed over to community members last year, and the now-annual community-wide garage sale was always separate from the NCA (and it's a fantastic event!).
This is a great neighbourhood, and we're confident that there are a lot of eager, involved residents who are already keeping the community spirit alive with or without an official community association.
So long, and we'll see you around the neighbourhood!
