🕊️ وداعاً آيرين ماثيسن… صوتٌ للعدالة والإنسانية
ببالغ الحزن والأسى، تنعى الجمعية العربية الكندية في لندن – أونتاريو، السيدة آيرين ماثيسن (Irene Mathyssen)، النائبة السابقة في البرلمان الكندي عن دائرة London—Fanshawe، التي كرّست سنوات طويلة من حياتها لخدمة المجتمع والدفاع عن العدالة الاجتماعية وحقوق الإنسان.
لقد كانت الراحلة مثالاً للالتزام بالخدمة العامة، والإيمان بالمساواة والكرامة الإنسانية، وحرصت خلال مسيرتها السياسية على إيصال أصوات الفئات والمجتمعات التي تحتاج إلى من يستمع إليها ويدافع عن حقوقها.
ونستذكر بكل تقدير مواقفها واهتمامها بالقضايا الإنسانية، بما فيها حقوق الشعب الفلسطيني، ودفاعها عن حقوق المواطنين الكنديين دون تمييز، وهي قيم تحمل مكانة خاصة لدى أبناء الجالية العربية في مدينة لندن.
إن رحيل آيرين ماثيسن لا يمثل خسارة لعائلتها ومحبيها فحسب، بل خسارة لشخصية تركت أثراً في الحياة العامة والمجتمع المحلي.
وباسم الجمعية العربية الكندية في لندن – أونتاريو، نتقدم بخالص التعازي والمواساة إلى ابنتها، النائبة السابقة ليندسي ماثيسن (Lindsay Mathyssen)، وإلى جميع أفراد عائلتها وأصدقائها ومحبيها.
ستبقى ذكراها حاضرة من خلال إرثها في الخدمة العامة والدفاع عن العدالة والكرامة الإنسانية.
لروحها السلام، ولعائلتها ومحبيها الصبر والسلوان.

🕊️ In Loving Memory of Irene Mathyssen — A Voice for Justice and Humanity
The Canadian Arab Society of London, Ontario, extends its deepest condolences on the passing of Irene Mathyssen, former Member of Parliament for London—Fanshawe, who dedicated many years of her life to public service, social justice, and the protection of human rights.
Irene will be remembered for her commitment to equality, compassion, and human dignity, as well as her efforts to ensure that the voices of individuals and communities were heard and respected.
We especially remember and appreciate her attention to humanitarian issues, including the rights of the Palestinian people, and her advocacy for the equal rights and dignity of all Canadians. These values hold special significance for members of the Arab Canadian community in London.
Her passing is a loss not only to her family and loved ones, but also to the wider London community, where her years of public service left a lasting legacy.
On behalf of the Canadian Arab Society of London, Ontario, we extend our heartfelt sympathies to her daughter, former Member of Parliament Lindsay Mathyssen, and to her entire family, friends, and loved ones.
May her legacy of public service, justice, and compassion continue to inspire future generations.
May she rest in peace, and may her family find comfort and strength during this difficult time.

It is with deep sadness and a broken heart that I mourn the passing of my beloved mother, Irene Mathyssen.
My mom was so much more than a mother. She was my inspiration, our family's rock, and a beacon of hope. She was someone I looked up to, someone who helped guide me through life, and someone whose strength and determination inspired me in ways words can never fully express.
Her presence gave us strength, her love gave us comfort, and her belief in what was possible gave us hope, even during the most difficult times.
To Londoners and Canadians , she was known for her public service, her dedication to her community, and her commitment to the people and causes she believed in. Behind all that she accomplished was the woman who shaped my life, whose example helped define who I am, and whose love will remain with me forever.
I also want to recognize my dad, Keith Mathyssen, who loved her deeply and stood by her side throughout her life and her political career. His unwavering love, partnership, and support was a foundational part of her journey. Together, they shared a beautiful life and a bond that will always be part of our family's story.
Losing Mom leaves an emptiness that words cannot begin to describe. Her passing will leave us changed, but I know that the values she instilled in us, the example she set, and the love she gave so freely will continue to guide us. Her legacy is not only in what she accomplished, but in the lives she touched and the strength she gave to those fortunate enough to know her.
She believed that our responsibility is to leave this world a better place than we found it. That belief is part of her legacy, and I will do my best to honour it throughout my life.
I love you so much mom. You will always be remembered. And your legacy of making this world a better place will live on.
