Happy !

“I want to tell you how lovely Sushma in Diagnostic Imaging is. Not only warm and friendly, but also genuinely caring and attentive to my needs. The experience was completely different from what I had expected, and it made a lasting impression. RMH is fortunate to have someone as kind, compassionate, and perceptive as Sushma on your team.” - RMH Patient

Thank you to the Kawartha Lakes for welcoming us to the community. I do understand that some days we do have long waits, and appreciate everyone's patience. 😀The clinic trys to not turn anyone away. We are also in the process of accepting new perminat patients, this makes for an extremely busy office and at times long waits. 🫣I wanted to share a positive email we received and say THANK YOU! 🥰 ALL of the staff are trying to navigate the best that we all can and appreciate you! 🙏

Walk ins are 5 days a week and we are still accepting perminate patients for Dr. Nkemdeme for his family practice.

Great news for Ross Memorial Hospital and our community 🏥

Our government is investing more than $7.6 million to support high-quality health care and strengthen hospital infrastructure at Ross Memorial Hospital.

This includes $3.76 million to help meet growing operational demands and $3.86 million through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund for critical upgrades to aging roof systems, water distribution, HVAC equipment, piping and more.

These investments will help ensure Ross Memorial has the resources and infrastructure needed to continue providing safe, reliable and high-quality care to patients across Haliburton–Kawartha Lakes–Brock and surrounding communities.

Last week, KLHCI's Recruitment & Retention Coordinator attended the AAFP FUTURE Conference in Kansas City as part of the Ontario Physician Recruitment Alliance (OPRA), representing the Eastern Ontario Physician Recruitment Alliance (EOPRA).

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to connect with Canadian medical students studying in the United States, sharing information about returning to practice in Ontario after completing their training. We also met with many American medical students who are interested in exploring opportunities to relocate to Ontario.

These conversations are an important part of our ongoing physician recruitment efforts, and we were proud to share why the City of Kawartha Lakes is a great place to build a medical career and a life.

To all the Canadians studying medicine abroad—we want you back! 🇨🇦❤️

Happy !

“I would like to thank Dr. Mostafa El-Beheiry for such a satisfying minor surgery (ingrown toenail). Dr. El-Beheiry and the care team made me feel comfortable and reassured that all would be well - which it is!! There was no pain after the topical anesthetic wore off and the toe is healing well. Carry on with your caring, professional wellness facility. I will be one of your strongest voices of support.”

Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative (KLHCI) is pleased to announce that Dr. Jeremy Fletcher will begin his family medicine practice at the Omemee Medical Centre on August 4, 2026.

Dr. Fletcher will be accepting patients that are registered with Health Care Connect (www.ontario.ca/healthcareconnect). We ask that you do not call the Medical Centre. If not already, please make sure you are registered with Health Care Connect in order to be connected with a local family physician. You no longer must be without a family physician to register with Health Care Connect.

Prior to becoming a family physician, Dr. Fletcher was a paramedic. He received his medical degree from the American University of Antigua in 2019 and completed his family medicine residency at Queen’s University in 2022. Since 2022, he has been an emergency medicine physician at Northumberland Hills Hospital, Cobourg.

“KLHCI’s Board of Directors and Recruitment & Retention Coordinator are very pleased with the recruitment of Dr. Fletcher. Having Dr. Fletcher choose to practice at the Omemee Medical Centre is important to Omemee and the surrounding communities. We wish him much success with his practice,” states Stacey Gudmundsson, KLHCI Chairperson.

Dr. Stuart Bothwell, Lead Physician for the City of Kawartha Lakes Family Health Organization states, “We are looking forward to assisting Dr. Fletcher as he begins his practice at the Omemee Medical Centre and providing additional primary care to the Kawartha Lakes.”

“I am looking forward to be providing care to the citizens of Omemee and the surrounding area,” states Dr. Fletcher.

The KLHCI Board of Directors has representation from throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes. Anyone wishing to be part of this community effort by donating financially to support the ongoing family doctor recruitment and retention programs are invited to contact Cindy Snider, Recruitment & Retention Coordinator at [email protected] or visit the KLHCI website at www.KawarthaLakesDoctors.org.
