Keeping Ross Memorial Hospital an acute care community hospital is paramount to guarantee Kawartha Lakes residents have accessible healthcare.

Laurie Scott voted to eliminate community memberships and jeopardize and cut acute care services. We cannot afford driving an hour out of Kawartha Lakes for surgeries and to receive short term treatment!

Despite public outcry and overwhelming support against this Bill, it has passed by a 54-15 vote at Third Reading. The Bill will await Royal Assent and become law.

Kawartha Lakes Health Coalition has learned that those in favour were Laurie Scott and the PCs. Those against were NDP and Ontario Party. Abstaining from the vote was the Liberal Party.

A detailed recorded vote will be released later on and we will release the full details that will include any independents present as well as the Green Party.
