Technology is one of those behind-the-scenes needs that makes a huge difference in the work we do.
At Safe Families Canada KW & Cambridge, so much of our day-to-day work happens through technology. We receive and coordinate referrals, connect with families and volunteers, communicate with community partners, track information, and keep our team connected as we support families across our community.
That's why we're grateful for organizations like Electronic Recycling Association (ERA), who give technology a second life while helping charities and nonprofits access the equipment they need to do their work well.
Through ERA's computer donation program, organizations like ours have the opportunity to receive refurbished technology that might otherwise be out of reach when every dollar needs to be directed carefully.
Thank you, Electronic Recycling Association, for investing in the nonprofit community and helping organizations like Safe Families continue doing the work that matters.

What a week!

Our 4th Annual Safe Families Online Auction has officially come to a close, and we are so grateful to everyone who helped make it happen.

To everyone who bid, shared our posts, told a friend, donated an item or experience, or helped us spread the word, thank you. And an especially big thank you to the incredible local businesses, organizations and individuals who so generously filled our auction with more than 100 items this year. We simply could not do this without you.

Together, you helped us raise $8,687 to support the work of Safe Families right here in our community, helping us continue to surround families facing crisis with caring relationships and practical support.

If you were a winning bidder, congratulations! Please watch your email today for payment instructions and information about collecting your items.

Our main auction pickup will be Saturday, September 19 from 9:00–11:00 AM at Kitchener MB Church. Full details will be included in your email.

FINAL HOURS!

Our 4th Annual Online Auction begins closing tonight at 8 PM, and if you’re bidding, there is one important thing you need to know!

We are using a SOFT CLOSE.

What does that mean?

If a bid is placed during the final minutes of bidding on an item, the closing time for that item will be extended by 5 minutes.

If another bid comes in during that extension, another 5 minutes will be added. This can continue for up to 30 minutes beyond the original closing time.

Why do we do this? It gives everyone a fair chance to respond to a last-minute bid rather than having an item won simply because someone clicked at the very last second.

So if you really want something, don’t walk away at 8 PM! Keep an eye on your items and watch the closing time shown in the auction.

There are still some fantastic items waiting for bids, and plenty of time to jump in.

Do you know a foster or adoptive family? We need your help getting this one in front of the right people!

Muskoka Bible Centre has generously donated a Family Fusion Chosen Retreat, created specifically for families connected through foster care or adoption.

This all-inclusive retreat for a family of four happening March 12–15, 2027, is valued at $1,400, and bidding starts at just $250! Additional children can also be added at an additional cost.

It’s an opportunity for a family to get away together, connect with other foster and adoptive families, and enjoy some meaningful time together in beautiful Muskoka.

This is such a wonderful auction item, but we know it needs to reach a very specific audience. If you know a foster or adoptive family who might love this opportunity, please share this post with them. Or share it with someone who works with foster or adoptive families and can help us spread the word.

Today’s Auction Spotlight comes with a pretty great story.

This vintage Yamaha FG-180 acoustic guitar was donated to our auction by Guitars for Kids Waterloo Region, a local organization that collects donated guitars, gives them some TLC when needed, and puts them into the hands of local kids who might not otherwise have the opportunity to own an instrument.

Since they began in 2014, Guitars For Kids-WATERLOO Region has put more than 1,000 guitars into the hands of young people in our community!

We love seeing one local organization come alongside another, and we’re so grateful to Dan Walsh and Guitars for Kids Waterloo Region for generously supporting our auction.

Now this guitar is looking for its next home!
