One of the greatest joys of this work is getting to watch young people discover their strengths and then seeing where those strengths take them.
I had the privilege of facilitating both Jaydon Richardson and Orlando Butler-Hunt during their time in the EDGE program. From there, they each stepped into leadership roles as Assistant Facilitators with EDGE, supporting and encouraging the next generation of participants.
This week, both graduated from the Social Services program at NSCC, and I could not be more proud of how far they have come.
Watching them grow from participants, to leaders, to professionals entering the field has been incredible. Their hard work, compassion, resilience, and commitment to helping others have brought them to this moment, and I know this is only the beginning.
Congratulations, Jayden and Orlando. The social services field is lucky to have you, and I can't wait to continue working alongside you as colleagues.
So proud of you both. ❤️

Windsor Edge participated in the Hants County Pride parade this weekend and had a blast. Becoming part of the community and meeting new people, belonging, all lead to employment and being proud of where you live.

Windsor Edge participants experienced a dynamic week of hands-on learning and professional growth, marked by a volunteer day at the Windsor food bank and comprehensive driver's training with the amazing Marshall Driver Training. To increase employability in rural Nova Scotia, it's beneficial to accumulate valuable work experience through volunteering and hands-on learning, as well as obtaining a driver's license. Thank you to the people in the community who show up again and again in Windsor for EDGE youth to share how you found your career paths and any challenges along the way. The youth in this town are so lucky to have such amazing cheerleaders.

As part of the Windsor Edge on Employment job shadow /co-op program, youth spent their morning at the magical world of the Mermaid Theatre, learning about career paths in the arts and expanding their knowledge of potential opportunities.
There is a world of possibility out there for youth who are willing to explore.
