We are so proud of Jacob, a former EDGE participant, and his incredible team performance at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat! 🥈💚

Bringing home a silver medal is an amazing achievement, and it was wonderful to see Jacob stop by the Rec Space and share his medal with us.

Congratulations, Jacob, and a huge shout-out to the entire Nova Scotia team for representing our province with such pride and determination! 👏✨

We’re so happy to celebrate this achievement with you! 💚

We had a pretty great visitor in the Rec Space this morning! 🥈💚

Jacob stopped in to show us the silver medal he brought home from the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat last week - and of course, we had to snap a picture!

Some of our staff were following along and watching the Games on YouTube last week, so it was pretty cool to see one of those medals walk through the door today.

A big shout-out to everyone who represented Nova Scotia at the games, and an extra special one for Jacob! We were all pretty happy to celebrate with you today. 🙌

This week at EDGE Windsor, youth built confidence and strengthened teamwork skills through a variety of creative and hands-on activities. We made macramé with Judy at the Makers Studio, learned about Ikigai, gained forestry experience with D. Bedford Forestry and practised photography in unique abandoned spaces.

The group has shown a strong interest in creative career paths, particularly photography and videography. They would love opportunities to photograph community events, concerts, wrestling matches and other sporting events.

We are looking for local professionals and organizations that may be able to offer portfolio-building opportunities, job shadowing or hands-on work experience. If you are interested in sharing your skills and supporting local youth, we would love to hear from you.

✨ Big things are happening at EDGE Windsor! ✨

Our youth have been working hard to get our new space ready for the next cohort, which kicks off on August 17! Their creativity, teamwork, and dedication are helping transform our space into a welcoming place for future participants.

We’re still proud to be part of the amazing Community Inclusion Society NS Works family, and we’re excited to welcome everyone to our new location at 176 Water Street, Windsor.

We can’t wait to share this space with our next group of youth and continue building confidence, skills, and community together. 💙

🎓✨ Congratulations to another EDGE Kentville cohort on their graduation!

Last week, we celebrated another amazing group of youth and their accomplishments. We are so proud of their hard work, growth, and commitment throughout the program.

A special thank you to Oliver, Program Manager and former EDGE participant from The Evangeline Club in Berwick, for taking the time to share his EDGE journey and how his path has developed since completing the program.

💬 “Every new beginning comes from a step you were brave enough to take.”

We wish all our graduates the very best as they take their next steps toward their future! 🍀

What a wonderful conversation today with Bob Murphy from CBC Radio about youth employment here in Nova Scotia.

We talked about how the world of work is changing, the challenges many young people face, and—most importantly—the reasons to be hopeful. We discussed the hidden job market, the growing opportunities in skilled trades, how AI is influencing the workforce, and why relationships, confidence, and community support are just as important as résumés.

I was also proud to highlight the incredible work happening here in Windsor and Kentville and the power of community partnerships. We spoke about the impact of EDGE on Employment through Community Inclusion Society, the Portal, and our collaboration with Nova Scotia Works, WHEC, the Windsor Town Business Association (WTBA), Windsor Pride, the Housing Construction Council, our local MLA, and the many employers, schools, and community organizations working together to create opportunities for young people.

One of the biggest messages I wanted to leave listeners with is this:

Young people want to work. They don’t need to be fixed—they need opportunities, relationships, and a community that believes in them.

Thank you to Bob Murphy and CBC Radio for providing a platform to share this important conversation and to celebrate the amazing work happening across our community.

🎙️ The interview will air tomorrow morning on CBC Radio. I hope you’ll tune in!
