Lots of activity here on the wharf this morning ! And 'tis some cold out, brrr.

These signs were posted up last year. Why is there still garbage being left around the wharf ? Every fishing boat owner has a key for the dumpster, so why do I have to slog my guts out to haul your garbage across the wharf ?? This is unacceptable ! It is not part of my job, nor is it the responsibility for the crews working here on the wharf. If you can't walk to the dumpster, keep it on your boat or take it home with you. Time to start enforcing that fee. $$$ seems to be the only way to get their attention.

UPDATE : Garbage was cleaned up shortly thereafter. Thank you.

The water supply for the Southside wharves has been turned on. We kindly ask that people stop removing the handles on the shut off valves. If this practice continues we will have no choice but to increase the fee you pay for maintenance. Thank you.

Invoices for Wait List Fees have been out since April 24th with a 30 day period to make payment. Since that date, we have had 16 out of 40 secure their positions on the list. The majority were sent electronically, so please check your email for your invoice, it could be in your junk folder. If you have not received yours, please contact the office. Due date is May 25th.

Canada Summer Jobs 2026 - one position available for summer work - 8 weeks - 35 hours per week - anticipated start date June 22nd (subject to change).
Duties to include clean up of all garbage on Marina grounds and surrounding wharves; all grass maintenance at the Marina and at the HA office located on Water Street. Youth must be familiar with starting and using a gas-powered push mower and gas-powered grass trimmer, including filling tank, mixing oil and changing lines.
Other duties may include general maintenance work and painting. Weekend work may be required during the recreational food fishery.
Eligible participants must be between 15 and 30 years at start of employment ; must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment; and must be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations. International students are not eligible for the CSJ Program.
