Jody Rae Hockett was 33 years old when she disappeared from Grande Prairie, Alberta, in February 2009.

On the night of February 22, 2009, Jody attended a gathering at a friend's apartment. She left, intending to return, but never did.

Later that night, she was seen outside the York Hotel in downtown Grande Prairie getting into an older-model white vehicle. It is the last confirmed sighting of her.
Jody was reported missing to the RCMP on February 27, 2009.

Her purse and cellphone had been left behind with people she had been with earlier that evening. According to her family, this was completely out of character. They say Jody stayed in regular contact with loved ones and would never have willingly disappeared or abandoned her two children.

At the time she went missing, Jody was 5'5" tall with dyed strawberry-blonde hair, blue eyes, and a fair complexion. She was last seen wearing jeans, a tank top, a black zip-up hoodie, and fur-trimmed high-heeled shoes.

Police later stated that Jody was known to them and described her as living a "high-risk lifestyle." Her family has since publicly expressed their belief that she met with foul play and has continued to advocate for her case to be treated as a potential homicide.

More than 16 years later, Jody Rae Hockett remains missing. No charges have been laid, no suspects have been publicly identified, and her family continues to hope that someone will come forward with the information needed to bring her home.

Sheriff Highway Patrol recently supported response efforts following multiple 911 reports from concerned Albertans regarding a vehicle travelling at excessive speeds.

The driver was observed travelling at 172 km/h and subsequently fled when an officer attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle was later located after losing two of its four tires, and its driver was arrested.

The driver was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and flight from a peace officer.

Alberta Sheriffs thank the public for reporting dangerous driving. If you witness an immediate threat to public safety, call 911. Working together, we can help keep Alberta roads safe.

Although this arrest was not in the County of GP, it does hit close to home with the increase in rural theft and trespassing in our area.

A 45-year-old woman from Assiniboia is facing break-and-enter charges after RCMP found copper wire, wire cutters, and other break-in tools in the vehicle.
