Posting a little late โ the weather has been far too nice to stay at a computer! โ๏ธ
With the beautiful spring weather, Outreach participants enjoyed several outdoor adventures last week.
On May 9, a handful of Outreach regulars joined O-YAโs The โGoode Run, including the well-dressed โSilver Sneakersโ team! ๐ Although participation was not organized by Outreach, it was wonderful to see the 55+ crowd from Outreach represented at this fun community fundraiser supporting youth in Osgoode. On May 12, Outreach hosted a BBQ lunch at the Legion as part of our monthly lunch gathering. Great food and great company made for a fantastic afternoon. Many thanks to Bob Ross and Steve Hiltz who did the BBQing but did not end up in a photo.
On Friday, a group from Outreach visited the Osgoode Township Museum in Vernon, where we enjoyed two delicious historical demonstrations. During โThe History of Dairying,โ participants successfully made butter and ice cream, and in โTaste of 200,โ we sampled recipes inspired by WWI and WWII. Thanks to Holly, Sarah and Robyn for being our guides.
Later that day, the Outreach crew attended the Ottawa Police Service community BBQ, chatting with community members about the programs and activities offered through Outreach and OVCA. Thanks to everyone who showed up to support the event.
What a wonderful week of community connections, learning, and fun!
