Optimist Club of Forest The Optimist Club of Forest was formed in March 1979 to serve the youth of Forest and surrounding areas.

Forest Optimist Basketball registration for Grades 5-6 and 7-8 is now open. Grades 7-8 will play for 8 weeks on Monday evenings from 6:00-9:00 p.m. at NLSS starting Monday, March 23. Grades 5-6 will play for 8 weeks on Thursday evenings from 6:00-9:00 p.m. starting Thursday, March 26, also at NLSS.

Players will receive a basketball, T-shirt, skills instruction and equal playing time. Cost is $60. This year is the 25th anniversary of Optimist Basketball and there will be special weekly draws to celebrate this.

Registration is limited to 72 players in each division so call soon. Register by calling Tom or Diane Hales at 519-786-4039 between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m., please.

On Tues., Dec. 16 the 15th annual Tristar Volleyball Skills competition was held as part of the wrap-up to the season. 20 players competed in 2 categories to display their volleyball skills of setting, bumping and serving. Plaques were awarded to the top 3 players in each category.

On Thursday, December 11, as part of Optimist Volleyball, Gr. 7-8 players took part in a Tristar Skills competition. Players were scored on their setting, bumping and serving skills. The maximum possible score was 75 points.
