The countdown is on to our first concert of the year! Join us on November 8 as we kick off our 75 anniversary season, and prepare to be swept away by the drama of Mozart's Requiem.

The first half of the program features Psalm 42, a rarely performed 7-movement cantata by Felix Mendelssohn in the grand style of his larger choral/orchestra works with choruses, full orchestra, soprano soloist and a beautiful solo quintet.

An incredible cast of Canadian soloists join Chorus Inspira and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Timothy Shantz, all at the Winspear Centre.

Don’t miss your chance to witness this world-class performance right here in Edmonton. Book your tickets now and prepare for an unforgettable musical journey!

to this spectacular 2013 performance of Mozart's Requiem, produced by Alberta Ballet. This production brought together the drama and emotion of Mozart's masterpiece, with breathtaking choreography.

12 years later, we still find ourselves reflecting on this unique experience, as we prepare to share the Requiem with our audiences next month.

If you join us for Mozart's Requiem on November 8, chances are pretty good that you're going to hear some familiar tunes. This magnificent work is one of the masterpieces of the choral canon... but even if you're not a classical music buff, anyone with a TV is likely to have heard it sampled in television and movies.

But if you're wondering what the title means, we've got you covered!

A 'Requiem' is a large-scale musical setting of the mass for the dead, often written for choir, soloists, and orchestra. The word itself is latin, and means "rest". While many of these works were originally intended for use during a funeral service, today they are most often heard in performance halls and concert series, where audiences can allow themselves to be swept up in the drama and emotion of the music and texts.

Do you have any questions about our upcoming performance? Send us a message or drop it in the comments!

As our first concert of the season draws closers, we reached into our vaults to find the program from our first EVER performance of Mozart's Requiem! It was a blast from the past to read the program notes by our former Larry Cook, and to read the chorister roster from 1974.

Take a walk down memory lane, then head to our website to secure your seats and hear this stunning work onstage at the Winspear Centre on November 8!
