Over this pass weekend, our members, along with other Search and Rescue people from acroos Canada, were in Saskartoon for Sarscene 2026. Theme was SAR 360": One Mission: Air-Land-Water. Great event to reconnect with old friends, make new friends. Lots of workshops, educational sessions and demonstrations.

On October 8th, we had some of our members do a presentation for the based at the .
The evening consisted of an and the science behind Search and Rescue. Everything from the command structure, lost person behaviour, drones and search techniques.
The cadets were very involved, asked some great questions and were very appreciative of our presentations.

Yesterday members from Parkland SAR and Edmonton Regional SAR were at the Alberta First Responders Career Fair. We talked to lots of people regarding what Search and Rescue is all about and the importance of volunteering in the community.

🚨 MYTH BUSTED: You do NOT have to wait 24 hours to report someone missing in Alberta.

If someone’s whereabouts are unknown and you’re concerned for their safety, report it immediately. There is no waiting period for a missing person report in Alberta.

Police assess every report based on risk, vulnerability, medical concerns, age, suspicious circumstances, and other factors to determine the appropriate response.

You do not need to live in the same community—or even be in Alberta—to make the report.

We had a great time talking to all the people that came by our tent. Lots a of interaction with all the different Emergency Services groups and the other Public Safety Organixzations that were there as well.

Sherwood Park, Alta. - The Strathcona County RCMP, in partnership with Strathcona County Enforcement Services & Emergency Services along with local public safety agencies, is pleased to invite the public to attend the Emergency Services and Public Safety Showcase on Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, at the Salisbury Composite High School parking lot in Sherwood Park.

This free, family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity to meet the people who work every day to keep our community safe. Attendees will have the chance to interact with representatives from a wide range of partner agencies, explore emergency vehicles and specialized equipment, and learn more about the important roles each organization plays in serving Strathcona County.

The showcase will feature interactive displays, information booths, emergency response vehicles, demonstrations, and hands-on activities for all ages. Whether you’re interested in emergency preparedness, public safety, or simply want to learn more about the agencies serving your community, there will be something for everyone.

The Alberta RCMP Recruiting Unit will also be on site to answer questions about careers in policing. Anyone interested in becoming an RCMP officer is encouraged to stop by and learn more about the recruitment process and the opportunities available.

We look forward to welcoming residents to this exciting event and showcasing the strong partnerships that help make Strathcona County a safe place to live, work and visit.

Please note that vehicle access to the parking lot will be limited during the event. Additional parking is available nearby. Washroom facilities will not be available on site.

Being prepared can make all the difference outdoors. Before heading out, plan your trip, tell someone where you’re going, and carry the essentials you may need if conditions change or your hike takes longer than expected.

A flashlight, signalling device, extra food and water, proper clothing, navigation tools, first aid supplies, emergency shelter, and sun protection can help keep a small problem from becoming an emergency.
