After yesterday's sad and eye-opening breakfast with Richard at Second Cup, I met with two amazing and talented colleagues to discuss an upcoming project for Nioma Nature and Wellness Society. A partnership with people who work with the underprivileged, addicted, houseless. A partnership with people whose life's work is to heal others; to keep the cultural and spiritual fires burning. It was a powerful call to action and I'm stoked. 💪❤️🌎🌻✨️
Then today, on my way to the library to finish my work, I meet Dave Barlow, a ground level street support worker with Boyle Street. We had a great conversation, as I had asked him what was working out there; what was not. He was exhausted from this week's work. "Too much," he said.
Yesterday there were six overdoses and one death on his shift. 😥💔💉💀
I told him about our idea. He agrees it is exactly what's needed. For indigenous and non- ... it's a program that will help us all reconnect with our humanity. So to Dave and all his colleagues: Thank you for the work you do. Keep the faith. Help is coming. I promise. ✊️🌺💖
And so, today I get to share my fruit salad and yogurt with Mitchell from Driftpile and talk about how the universe responds when we move in the direction of our brighter self; as we learn how to love ourselves. 🌺✨️🔥🙏
Mother Earth hasn't given up on us yet. So it should be that we don't either. 🤗❤️🌎✨️🌻⚡️
