Hazeldean Community League

11/02/2026

Winter is just around the corner, and The Hazeldean Community League is getting ready for another season of outdoor skating!

But we need YOUR help to make it happen!

We're looking for community volunteers to help us build and maintain our neighbourhood snowbank rink throughout the winter.

🛠️ HOW CAN YOU HELP?
• Build the snowbank retaining walls
• Flood the rink and maintain the ice
• Clear snow throughout the skating season

📣 NEW FOR 2026!
This year, we'll be relocating the snowbank rink to the WEST SIDE of the Community Hall, west of the parking lot, onto the greenspace and basketball court.

This new location will allow us to create a LARGER SKATING SURFACE, giving our neighbours even more room to skate, play hockey, and enjoy the outdoors together!

📧 INTERESTED IN HELPING?
Contact our Facilities Director at: [email protected]

Please SHARE this post with your friends and neighbours! The more volunteers we have, the easier it will be to keep the rink in great shape for everyone to enjoy.

Our community rink is made possible by volunteers who generously contribute their time and energy. We'd love to welcome some new faces to the team this year!

FYI, Hazelnuts.

Curbside collection switches to the winter schedule next week! ❄️

Green food scraps carts will return to being collected every second week, as less organic waste is produced in winter months.

Interested in getting more involved in Hazeldean?

The Hazeldean Community League is looking for community members who may be interested in joining our Board of Directors at our upcoming AGM on Tuesday, November 10, 2026.

You don’t need previous Board experience, and you don’t need to have a specific position in mind. We’re looking for people with different skills, interests and perspectives who want to help strengthen the community.

There are opportunities connected to:
- Community events and programming
- Sports and recreation
- Memberships
- Facilities and hall operations
- Communications and publicity
- Civics and neighbourhood issues
- Volunteer coordination
- Finance and administration
- Executive leadership
- Director-at-Large and other flexible roles

We’ve created a short Board of Directors Interest Form for anyone who wants to learn more, explore possible roles, or let us know they may be interested in seeking nomination.

Completing the form does not commit you to running for a position. It simply gives us an opportunity to connect before the AGM.

HCL Annual General Meeting:
📅 Tuesday, November 10, 2026
🕖 7:00–8:00 PM
📍 Hazeldean Community League, 9630 66 Ave NW

If you’ve ever thought, “I’d like to get more involved in the neighbourhood, but I’m not sure where I’d fit,” this is a good place to start.

We’d like to hear from you.

🚨🎃 WARNING: THE MONSTERS ARE GETTING RESTLESS. 🎃🚨

We’ve officially reached 3 MORE SLEEPS until The Hazeldean Halloween Howler Family Dance and things are getting a little strange around here. 👀

The ghosts are practicing their dance moves. 👻
The witches are warming up their broomsticks. 🧙‍♀️
The vampires are setting their alarms for after sunset. 🧛
And the kids?

They’ve probably changed their costume choice six times already. 😂

The Halloween Howler is almost here, Hazeldean!

Come burn off some of that WAY-TOO-EXCITED-FOR-TRICK-OR-TREATING energy with us before the candy collecting begins. 🍬🎃

📅 October 31
⏰ 1–4 PM
📍 Hazeldean Community League

THREE. MORE. SLEEPS. 😈
