Sunny Sunday was one for the books! ☀️🍕🎉 ​We couldn't have asked for a better crowd. Huge thanks to all the families, kids, and neighbours who came out to share food, listen to great music, and fill the hall with good vibes!

Behind the scenes at Sunny Sunday! ☀️📸

Our incredible volunteers and the amazing chefs from Olia and Harvest Moon Pop-ups are holding down the fort (literally—it’s a bit breezy out!) and getting everything ready for you. The ovens are fired up, the music is warming up, and the space at Strathearn Community League is set!

We kick off at 3:00 PM and go until 9:00 PM. Pizza is available until sold out, and with rain in the forecast later, you'll definitely want to head down early to grab your slices!

🌪️ Quick checklist before you head out: • A light jacket or windbreaker 🧥 • A blanket or lawn chair 🧺 • Big appetite (get here early before the pizza runs out!) 🍕

☀️ Sunny Sunday is happening this Sunday! ☀️

Join us on August 2 from 3:00 to 9:00 PM at the Strathearn Community League for an afternoon and evening of great music, dancing, food, wine, cocktails, and community.

We’re especially excited about a special pizza pop-up during the event. A couple of the talented chefs from Olia have put together a fantastic menu, so come hungry and treat yourself to some incredible pizza alongside the offerings from Harvest Moon Pop-ups.

With music by Denise, Piyush, and Noosh, great food, refreshing drinks, and plenty of summer energy, Sunny Sundays is the perfect way to spend a long weekend afternoon.

🌞 Be sure to:

- Wear sunscreen and dress for the weather.
- Bring a lawn chair if you’d like a comfortable place to sit and relax.

Rain or shine, we’re going to be equipped for a fun time with both indoor and outdoor space.

This looks fun.
- putting a call out for any potted plants people may have to use to decorate the patio space and use as table centerpieces for the event. The idea is for neighbours to bring pots down for the event, and they can take them back after. I really love the idea of everyone having a chance to contribute to the event so everyone can really feel part of it.

With trees on my mind I took a short walk around the block at Strathearn Heights to check in on elm trees showing signs of potential Dutch Elm Disease. Does anyone know if the City of Edmonton has a proper reporting portal? They once, mid 90s, coordinated a volunteer driven campaign to check on and catalogue every elm in the city. Is that still a thing?

I think all of these are elms but a pro should come take a look. I wonder if the one marked with pink dot was done so by city of property managers, or neither.

The garden boxes are getting a beautiful touch up by one of it's members.

Behind the compost bins and under the giant spruce trees is a forest of sunflowers. I believe these were planted by the squirrels and/or magpies from last years crop.
