At our 4 Club sites in Greater Halifax.

BGC Greater Halifax Clubs help children and youth overcome barriers, access safe spaces, and develop leadership skills and positive relationships. We serve more than 3,700 children annually through before-and-after school, nutrition, education, leadership, camp, and recreation programs. We support kids and their families at seven club sites: East Dartmouth, Admiral Westphal, Alderney, Dartmouth North, Spryfield, Sackville, and Humber Park.

Thank you for supporting this impactful programming for our young leaders!

Wellness Fund Celebration Highlight: The BGC Greater Halifax was awarded funding for a "Skills for Youth Leaders" initiative. This is a structured certification-based program offered to youth in two junior leaderships clubs in Dartmouth (East Dartmouth and Dartmouth North). The program will deliver hands-on training in practical life and safety skills. The goal is to equip young leaders with competencies that build independence, safety awareness, and confidence!

On October 7, over 175 people filled the East Dartmouth Club site before most of the city was awake, and together you raised nearly $60,000 for kids and youth at our four Clubs througout Greater Halifax.

Every dollar from the Annual Breakfast goes straight to programs: after-school, drop-in, tutoring, mentorship, camps, and the staff who show up for 800+ young people every year.

We can handle a few ghosts and goblins, but 20 mm of rain and a closed Farrell Street have scared us off. We’ve made the tough call to cancel our Halloween event. We’re disappointed, but we hope your costumes get an outing somewhere a little drier!

That’s a wrap! All the winter clothing from today’s giveaway has found a home with local families.

A big thank you to Operation Warm, IATSE and everyone who helped make today possible. It was lovely to see so many families! If you were planning to visit us at our Club this afternoon, we’ve finished early as all items have been given out.

We’re excited to launch Many Roots, One Club, a new program taking place across all four of our Club sites this year!

Over the next seven months, Club members will explore culture, identity and belonging through hands-on workshops led by community educators. Along the way, they’ll discover new traditions, share experiences and celebrate the many cultures that make up our Club community.

We couldn’t have asked for a better start! Our East Dartmouth Club welcomed David and Lawrence from the Maritime Centre for African Dance for an afternoon filled with storytelling, dance and music.

Through stories from across Africa, lively dance lessons and an energetic djembe drumming session, David and Lawrence brought culture and tradition to life. Our members had a wonderful time learning, moving and trying something new!

A big thank you to David and Lawrence for sharing your knowledge, talents and traditions with us, and to Nova Scotia Culture for making this program possible through its generous funding.

This is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting seven months. We look forward to sharing more of the experiences and discoveries ahead!
