🎉 BGC Prestons 2026 Club Day Event 🎉

What an incredible day we had at our 2026 Club Day event!

A huge thank you goes out to all of our amazing staff and volunteers who worked so hard behind the scenes to prepare for this event and help make it such a success. Your dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm made the day possible, and we truly appreciate everything you did.

Our members and families enjoyed a fantastic day filled with fun activities, including our bouncy castle, sensory toy station, face painting, bean bag toss, tug-of-war, water relay game, outdoor Connect Four, sucker pull station, and spinning prize wheel. There was something for everyone to enjoy!

We also kept everyone fueled with a delicious BBQ, cotton candy, popcorn, and cake throughout the day.

To top it all off, our members who attended were sent home with snack bags generously donated from United Way Halifax as a special thank you for being part of the celebration.

We would like to extend a special thank you as well to Amelia Cruddas from BGC Canada and our Board Chair Melina Kennedy for coming out to support our Club Day!!

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make Club Day such a fun and memorable event. We loved seeing so many smiling faces and can't wait to do it all again next year! ❤️💙

📸 Exciting things are happening at BGC Preston's new Photography Program!

We're happy to share that the program is off to a great start, and our members have already been developing their photography skills while having lots of fun along the way.

So far, we've learned how to operate and care for our cameras responsibly and explored photography basics while doing a photography scavenger hunt.

It's been wonderful to see everyone's creativity, enthusiasm, and unique perspectives shine through their photos. We can't wait to continue learning, exploring, and capturing more amazing moments together throughout the program!

Throwing it back to all the fun from our BGC Preston March Break Camp! 🎉☀️

From games and activities to laughs, creativity, and new friendships, we had an amazing week making memories together. Thank you to all of the campers, families, and staff who made this year’s March Break Camp such a success!

We loved seeing everyone’s smiles and energy each day, and we hope all of our campers had as much fun as we did. 💙

We were incredibly honoured to partner with Family Service Nova Scotia on the Black Pages Bright Minds Book Club — a meaningful initiative that brought African Nova Scotian youth and families together through the power of literacy, storytelling, and community connection. 📚✨

Over the course of the program, participants had the opportunity to explore culturally relevant stories, build confidence in reading, strengthen family bonds, and create lasting memories together. Seeing our young people engaged, excited, and empowered through books was truly inspiring.

In April, we gathered for a beautiful Closing Celebration to recognize the success of the program and celebrate all of the amazing youth, families, facilitators, and partners who made it possible. The joy, laughter, and sense of community in the room reflected exactly what this program was all about — bringing people together and creating spaces where every story matters. ❤️

A huge thank you to Family Service Nova Scotia for the invitation to partner and for bringing this thoughtful idea to life, United for Literacy, Preston Area Family Resource Centre, North Preston Family Resource Centre, ABSW, and all community partners for their collaboration and commitment to supporting African Nova Scotian families in Preston Township.

As we wrap up our final Youth Night at BGC Preston, we want to send out a huge thank you to all of the parents and guardians for allowing your kids to come out and be part of our program this season. Your support means so much to us and helps make nights like these possible.

To all of our amazing members, thank you for participating, bringing your energy, and making every Youth Night so much fun. We truly hope everyone enjoyed their time with us, made great memories, and had lots of laughs along the way.

We are incredibly proud of the success of our Self Love African Nova Scotian Youth Mental Health Program! 💛✨

Over the past several weeks, our youth participants showed dedication, courage, honesty, and growth as they committed their time to learning about mental health, self-love, confidence, healthy relationships, and emotional wellness.

Creating safe spaces for African Nova Scotian youth to connect, share, heal, and uplift one another is so important, and this group truly embraced the experience. Watching the youth build confidence, support one another, and openly engage in meaningful conversations was inspiring for all involved.

A huge thank you to our facilitators, families, supporters, and especially our amazing youth participants for making this program such a success. Your voices matter, your feelings matter, and your future matters. We are so proud of each and every one of you! ❤️🖤💚

🎶🔥 Another great session of BGC Beats! 🔥🎶

This session, our youth were introduced to the initial aspects of beat making, helping get their creative gears turning as they explored the kinds of sounds, styles, and ideas they want to use in their own music. 🎧🎹

It was exciting to see everyone experimenting, learning, and beginning to shape their own creative direction through music production. Programs like this give youth the opportunity to express themselves, build confidence, and develop new skills in a fun and supportive environment. 🌟

A special thank you to Shawn Downey from Sharp 5 Production for sharing his knowledge, creativity, and experience with our youth. We appreciate the time and energy put into helping inspire the next generation of creators and artists 🙌🎵

Nothing brings kids together like pizza night! 🍕✨

Our members at BGC Preston had an amazing time rolling dough, adding their favorite toppings, and creating their own delicious pizzas during our Kid Food Nation activity! From teamwork in the kitchen to trying new foods, the kids learned valuable cooking skills while having tons of fun.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this hands-on experience possible. We loved seeing the creativity, smiles, and confidence grow with every slice! 💙

🚨 REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! 🚨

BGC Preston is excited to present our Pathways to Healing Youth Medical Careers Conference taking place June 12–13, 2026 at the NSCC Ivany Campus in Dartmouth! 🩺✨

This exciting two-day experience is designed for African Nova Scotian youth ages 13–18 who are interested in exploring careers in the medical and healthcare field.

Participants will enjoy:
🔹 Hands-on medical activities
🔹 Opportunities to meet Black healthcare professionals
🔹 Career pathway information
🔹 Mentor panels & small group sessions
🔹 Free meals, swag, and certificates

We’ve already received lots of positive interest, but we still have spots available and would love to see more youth join us for this powerful opportunity!
