Chief Isadore Trail

Chief Isadore Trail An exciting and new hybird graveled 43 km traill between Cranbrook and Wardner. Trail open completely July 1 2017 on Canday Day 150.

Half of the trail is resurfaced rail grade with the other half an enhanced 1.2 meter width graveled singletrack. The Trails Society of BC (Trails BC) Rockies Region is the trail proponent with Trans Canada Trail as being the primary funding partner. In January of 2014, Trails BC has established the Cranbrook to Wardner Development Committee which is a broadly based local community support group to

help facilitate trail development. The committee has representation from Cranbrook, Kimberley and affected communities Wardner and Mayook, including individuals with government backgrounds in planning and building trails and trail infrastructure. Local recreational groups are also involved as well as interest from community service clubs. First nations have been invited to participate in the project

Thank you to the 8 volunteers from various provincial agencies who donated a day of labour upgrading the Chief Isadore Trail as part of public service day last Thursday. About 150 meters of trail between the 5 and 6km posts was dressed up with fines to improve the riding surface. A shout out to Lisa Cox of Recreation Sites and Trails BC for coordinating and supervising the activity.

Great to see local Cranbrook rider help hiker Melanie out by going back to retrieve her hiking pole that she happened to leave behind a few kms back on the trail.

Expecting Melanie and her dog Malo to be walking into Cranbrook tomorrow on the trail. If you see give her a big high five. She has been walking the Trans Canada Trail from east to west for five years now, what an accomplishment. She hopes to finish her adventure by the end of October in Victoria. Follow her page, she writes quite a story. Well done Melanie!
