At Key City Theatre, we foster appreciation of and community involvement in the arts. We operate a first-class performing arts, conference, and cultural centre for the people of the East Kootenays. Our professional facility stimulates creativity, enhances communication and learning, and provides a comfortable setting for quality entertainment. History of Key City

Theatre
A dream started in the mid-1970's... a dream to create a fine arts facility we could truly call our own. In 1978 a referendum was defeated that would have financed the construction. At the time it seemed nearly impossible to create the dream. A fantasy dies when it encounters major obstacles, but not a dream, not this dream. There were too many people who shared this dream and in 1984 thoughts again turned to a fine arts facility and how we could create this dream debt-free, without placing a burden on the tax payers of Cranbrook. Due to the commitment, talents and dedication of so many of our citizens, the City of Cranbrook, School District No. 5, and the support of the Provincial Government through the Expo Legacy Fund, we were able to build this theatre, debt free. This facility stands today as a monument to the Provincial Government's commitment that all regions of our Province would benefit from British Columbia's 1986 Exposition. The people of Cranbrook and region also opened their hearts and wallets to provide the enthusiasm and necessary capital. Family is not always one simple shape, and that is something worth celebrating.

Faces of Pride is back with Chosen Family Edition, honouring the people who love us, hold us, claim us, and help us feel like we belong. This project was created to bring awareness, understanding, and celebration to our local Pride community through thoughtful portrait work and real stories. Chosen family is a powerful part of many 2SLGBTQIA+ lives, and this edition is a beautiful reminder that connection can be built in many ways.
Come celebrate love, belonging, community, and the people who make life feel safer and brighter.

Step right up, because the weird is coming.

Monsters of Schlock are bringing their completely outrageous sideshow comedy to Key City Theatre. Expect stunt comedy, carnival-style chaos, big laughs, strange feats, and the kind of live performance that makes you say “I cannot believe I just saw that” at least three times. This is not your regular night out, and that is exactly the point. Bring the brave friend, the curious friend, or the friend who says they are impossible to shock.

ANNOUNCING: DON ROSS AND JULIA MALIA

Don Ross is one of Canada's great fingerstyle guitar players. His music pulls from folk, jazz, blues, classical, and what he calls "heavy wood," with percussive groocves and melodies that feel huge. Julie Malia brings her own world of guitar, voice, song writing, and European concert experience into the mix. Together they've been touring as a double bill and duo since 2023.

Two voices, one beautiful night.
The Black Feathers are coming to Key City Theatre with their rich blend of folk, roots, and Americana. Made up of Ray Hughes and Sian Chandler, this UK duo is known for close harmonies, heartfelt songwriting, and music that feels both intimate and wide open. Their sound is perfect for people who love acoustic storytelling and songs that leave a little hush in the room. If you are a harmony person, this is absolutely your kind of concert.

This will be a special up close and personal cabaret performance in the gallery stage

Key City Theatre is a scent-free facility, and that means we ask everyone to avoid perfume, cologne, scented sprays, strong lotions, and other fragranced products when visiting the theatre.
For some guests, staff, volunteers, and artists, scents can cause serious reactions and make it hard or even impossible to enjoy the show safely. We want everyone to feel welcome, comfortable, and able to share the same space without worry. Thank you for helping us keep the theatre accessible, thoughtful, and kind for all.

Metal night at Key City Theatre. Yes, really.
Canadian heavy metal legends Anvil are coming to Cranbrook, and this is going to be a loud one in the best possible way. Formed in Toronto in 1978, the band has spent decades building a legacy with grit, volume, and a truly wild amount of staying power. Their story reached a whole new audience through the acclaimed documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil, which made people fall in love with the heart behind the heavy metal. This one is for the lifers, the dad rockers, the metal fans, and anyone who likes their theatre nights with a little more thunder.

Pirates, dreams, lost boys, and one very big imagination.
Key City Theatre is thrilled to bring Finding Neverland to the stage this January. Inspired by the story behind Peter Pan, this Broadway musical follows J.M. Barrie as he discovers friendship, inspiration, and the magic of believing in something bigger than everyday life. It is a beautiful choice for families, dreamers, musical theatre lovers, and anyone who still has a little bit of Neverland tucked away somewhere.

Finding Neverland runs December 31, January 15, 16, 17, 21, 22, and 23.

All McCartney is a high-energy live concert experience celebrating the music of Paul McCartney across The Beatles, Wings, and his legendary solo career. From Hey Jude and Let It Be to Band on the Run, Live and Let Die, and so many more, this is the kind of night that has people smiling before the first chorus is even finished.

Led by international touring musician Ian B. Garcia the show recreates the sound, harmonies, musicianship, and magic of one of the greatest songbooks ever written. Expect big singalongs, plenty of nostalgia, and a room full of people remembering exactly where they were when they first heard these songs.
