Welcome to Key City Theatre
At Key City Theatre, we foster appreciation of and community involvement in the arts. We operate a first-class performing arts, conference, and cultural centre for the people of the East Kootenays. Our professional facility stimulates creativity, enhances communication and learning, and provides a comfortable setting for quality entertainment. History of Key City

Theatre
A dream started in the mid-1970's... a dream to create a fine arts facility we could truly call our own. In 1978 a referendum was defeated that would have financed the construction. At the time it seemed nearly impossible to create the dream. A fantasy dies when it encounters major obstacles, but not a dream, not this dream. There were too many people who shared this dream and in 1984 thoughts again turned to a fine arts facility and how we could create this dream debt-free, without placing a burden on the tax payers of Cranbrook. Due to the commitment, talents and dedication of so many of our citizens, the City of Cranbrook, School District No. 5, and the support of the Provincial Government through the Expo Legacy Fund, we were able to build this theatre, debt free. This facility stands today as a monument to the Provincial Government's commitment that all regions of our Province would benefit from British Columbia's 1986 Exposition. The people of Cranbrook and region also opened their hearts and wallets to provide the enthusiasm and necessary capital. The Key City Theatre is a shining example of how the people of Cranbrook can create anything they truly want. Rick Jensen

Metal night at Key City Theatre. Yes, really.
Canadian heavy metal legends Anvil are coming to Cranbrook, and this is going to be a loud one in the best possible way. Formed in Toronto in 1978, the band has spent decades building a legacy with grit, volume, and a truly wild amount of staying power. Their story reached a whole new audience through the acclaimed documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil, which made people fall in love with the heart behind the heavy metal. This one is for the lifers, the dad rockers, the metal fans, and anyone who likes their theatre nights with a little more thunder.

Anvil is at Key City Theatre on June 30.

RE-ANNOUNCING TENILLE TOWNES:

For Tenille Townes, writing songs is a way of reaching out to anyone longing to make sense of a wildly confusing world. In the last five years alone, the Canada-born artist’s full-hearted and soul-searching songwriting has led to such milestones as touring with legends like Stevie Nicks, Miranda Lambert and Shania Twain and taking home two JUNO Awards —all while building up a globe-spanning fanbase irresistibly drawn to her intensely honest storytelling. With her many accolades also including 17 Canadian Country Music Association Awards and two Academy Of Country Music Awards, the Nashville-based rising star now begins a bold new chapter with her most fully realized work to date: a gorgeously sculpted batch of songs that bring a moodier and more unfettered sound to her compassionate lyrical outpouring.

Pirates, dreams, lost boys, and one very big imagination.
Key City Theatre is thrilled to bring Finding Neverland to the stage this January. Inspired by the story behind Peter Pan, this Broadway musical follows J.M. Barrie as he discovers friendship, inspiration, and the magic of believing in something bigger than everyday life. It is a beautiful choice for families, dreamers, musical theatre lovers, and anyone who still has a little bit of Neverland tucked away somewhere.

ANNOUNCING:
All McCartney is a high-energy live concert experience celebrating the music of Paul McCartney across The Beatles, Wings, and his legendary solo career. From Hey Jude and Let It Be to Band on the Run, Live and Let Die, and so many more, this is the kind of night that has people smiling before the first chorus is even finished.

Led by international touring musician Ian B. Garcia the show recreates the sound, harmonies, musicianship, and magic of one of the greatest songbooks ever written. Expect big singalongs, plenty of nostalgia, and a room full of people remembering exactly where they were when they first heard these songs.

ANNOUNCING: WILLIAM PRINCE
This two-time JUNO Award-winning singer-songwriter from Peguis First Nation has become one of Canada’s most affecting voices, known for songs that feel plainspoken until they quietly sneak up and flatten you. Prince’s 2025 album Further From the Country pushed his sound into bolder musical territory while keeping that grounded storytelling at the center.
His songs are plainspoken in the best possible way, but there’s nothing small about them. They reach into family, place, faith, grief, love, longing, and the strange comfort of recognizing your own life in someone else’s words.

MOONTRICKS are bringing their wild blend of electro-folk, roots, blues, banjo, bass, and mountain-made magic to Key City Theatre on November 7th.

Known for mixing earthy acoustic sounds with deep electronic grooves, Moontricks have that rare kind of music that makes you want to stomp your boots, close your eyes, and dance like nobody from your row can see you.

This is music for the campfire people, the festival people, the “I just came to listen but now I’m dancing” people.

Tickets are on sale to Key City Theatre members now.
