JCI Kootenay

JCI Kootenay JCI is a membership-based nonprofit organization of 200,000 young people ages 18 to 40 in 5,000 communities and more than 100 countries around the world.

JCI Kootenay is affiliated with Junior Chamber International (JCI), a young leader based nonprofit org helping tomorrows leaders build their roots through fundraisers, trainings, socials, proper meetings, conferences, networking, and member recognition. Through various local, national and international projects and events, JCI members meet, learn and grow. JCI also has millions of alumni, many of

whom provide support to active members. Each JCI Member shares the belief that in order to create lasting positive change, we must improve ourselves and the world around us. To contribute to the advancement of the global community, JCI provides young people the opportunity to develop the leadership skills, social responsibility, entrepreneurship and fellowship necessary to create positive change.

JCI Kootenay is proud to support our fellow Jaycees with a $500 donation to JCI Penticton to help their efforts to support the evacuees from the Bald Creek Fire.

JCI Penticton has been running a free food station 24/7 since Noon on Saturday the 8th.

We were fortunate to have two of our members on site to help with the first couple days. It is truly remarkable to see the impact they have on the evacuees, as well as the way that all of Penticton has united to support their neighbours.

We may be from different chapters, but we are all Jaycees. And to quote the JCI Creed, “Service to humanity is the best work of life!”

As we get closer to the cosy fall weather, we also get to take some time to think about what comes next for the JCI Kootenay Chapter. At our September chapter meeting we will be beginning the nominations for the 2027 board.

If you are a JCI member and have some exciting ideas for what the future of the chapter could hold, we encourage you to throw your hat into the ring for one of the 2027 leadership positions! Know of another member who seems like an awesome fit for the job? You can nominate them too!

Being a part of the JCI board is an awesome educational experience where our members get to learn about leadership, organization and co-operation (and of course having fun). If that sounds intriguing to you then this is a meeting you won't want to miss!

Last Saturday JCI Kootenay got to spend a very educational morning at our Working Better Together event. We wanted to give a shout-out to Rachel Lucas of Lifestyle Leadership, who shared her time and expertise on the topic of working effectively within a team. We also learned how we can be more efficient and productive as leaders in our homes, careers, and communities!

A huge thank you to Rachel and everyone who attended on Saturday. We look forward to seeing how you put into action all that you learned!
