JCI Kootenay

JCI Kootenay JCI is a membership-based nonprofit organization of 200,000 young people ages 18 to 40 in 5,000 communities and more than 100 countries around the world.

JCI Kootenay is affiliated with Junior Chamber International (JCI), a young leader based nonprofit org helping tomorrows leaders build their roots through fundraisers, trainings, socials, proper meetings, conferences, networking, and member recognition. Through various local, national and international projects and events, JCI members meet, learn and grow. JCI also has millions of alumni, many of

whom provide support to active members. Each JCI Member shares the belief that in order to create lasting positive change, we must improve ourselves and the world around us. To contribute to the advancement of the global community, JCI provides young people the opportunity to develop the leadership skills, social responsibility, entrepreneurship and fellowship necessary to create positive change.

However, we've another 2 weeks to go yet so want to encourage everyone to continue to enter your activities and participant numbers .....and if you haven't yet registered - get on board! You can retroactively enter back to June 1st.

Last night, JCI Kootenay gathered at Bohemian Spirits for our monthly chapter meeting.

Members learned about leadership opportunities available at both the local and national levels of JCI and discussed how getting involved on boards and committees can help build skills, expand networks, and create positive change in our communities.

After the meeting, we put those leadership skills to the test with some friendly axe throwing competition. Congratulations to our top throwers, and thanks to everyone who joined us for an evening of learning, connection, and fun.

What a weekend for JCI Kootenay!

Our members spent May 29-31 at the JCI BC/Yukon Regional Conference at Blue Lake Camp, connecting with members from across Western Canada and beyond while developing leadership skills, building friendships, and celebrating achievements.

We're proud to share that JCI Kootenay was nominated for five regional awards and brought home three:

🏆 Chapter of the Year
🏆 Member of the Year – Daniel Crema
🏆 Project of the Year – 30 Under 30

Congratulations as well to Shane Nickel-Thibodeau, who won the BC/Yukon Effective Speaking Competition and will represent our chapter and region at the JCI Canada National Convention in Montreal this September.

These awards belong to every member who volunteers their time, shares their talents, supports our projects, and believes in creating positive change in our community.

Thank you to our members, partners, sponsors, and supporters for helping make this possible. We are excited to keep building momentum and serving the East Kootenay.
