We have experienced an invasion of bindweed in all the front (where entry through main gate is) beds of the public produce garden.

We are thankful for everyone who is weeding/cutting back in any of those beds.

PLEASE do NOT compost any of the material from here. It can be piled in the empty space of the row of fruit trees (along the side fence with the playground) and will be dealt with as invasive species material.

Thanks so much!

In the 2026 growing season, we have been most fortunate to have a very experienced grower join our volunteer team. Mary has worked tirelessly to start up a 'seed garden'. This means the Public Produce Garden is now growing plants for the sole purpose of having them go to seed. Then those seeds will be harvested this fall so that we have more locally grown seeds to give away at our annual spring 'Seedy Saturday' or to the Cranbrook Public Library seed catalogue. To respect Mary's hard work and the goal of feeding more people through seed distribution, PLEASE DO NOT pick these vegetables or the seeds in this plot which has lots of signage to that effect.

With gratitude, the Public Produce Garden volunteers.

The public Produce garden has received a very generous donation of parsnips. Please come and share in the feast. As always, take what you can use in a couple of days. You will find them in the farm stand

Our new farm stand has become a focal point at our garden this summer. It will be used in these ways:
•freshly picked/gathered food especially for people who find it difficult to get down to the ground for picking their own
•a location that people can leave their own extra produce
•a place to drop off reusable containers that can be used for collecting garden produce
•overtime we will also be adding information about garden activities, how to donate and how to let us know about your visit to the garden to collect stats that can be used for funding requests.

Thanks for all support as we continue to improve this amazing community gem.

🌱🥕 Cranbrook, how’s your garden growing? 🥕🌱

Did you know we with the help of the Cranbrook Public Library sent 4,786 seed packages out into the community this spring?! 🌻 That’s a whole lot of seeds, sprouts, and hopefully a whole lot of delicious veggies!

Were you one of our seed share recipients? 👀
We want to see what happened next!

📸 Drop a photo in the comments of your garden, your biggest veggie, your funniest-looking carrot, your first harvest, or that one plant that surprised you by taking over the whole garden (we all have one! 😆).

Let’s see what Cranbrook is growing! 🌿🍅🥒

Share your garden wins, your questions, and your growing stories — we can’t wait to celebrate your harvest with you! 💚

Cranbrook! We are looking to launch some local food boxes this October. There are so many questions you might have about this, and we can't even answer them yet... because we want to hear from you first!

Complete this short survey to tell us how much you're looking to spend, what kinds of things you'd like to see, and how likely you'd be to purchase. Link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/QD9W322

What we do know is the items will be locally-sourced and appropriately priced. Revenue from box sales will come right back to supporting our "Good Food" work in the Southeast Kootenays.
