🚧 TRAIL CLOSURE🚧

👷‍♂️Closure is left and right of the Massey Drive/Steady Brook Trail Intersection

Equipment has made it from Massey Drive to the Steady Brook Trail. One excavator is working left of the intersection and one is gone right toward the bridge. Given the trail is narrow it will be closed to all traffic Thursday and Friday. Access will be granted to local cabin owners but expect long delays if you must get through to your cabin. There could be a culvert being installed. So bring a snack.

Trail will open up again Friday afternoon but anticipate it being closed again on Tuesday.

Getting real close now to the Steady Brook trail. Some amazing work being done by our Marine Contractors Inc. crew. Won’t be long now before you can take a ride to Steady Brook from Corner Brook.
Few before and after pics for you all to see how it’s going. Hard to match em up. Looks so different after the work is completed on each section. It’s amazing to see what we use to cruise over on snowmobile.

WSR are pleased to announce Ryan Green as this year’s Scholarship recipient. Ryan spent three years as a junior director with WSR helping with bridges, signage, special events etc.

Ryan is currently on summer break from the College of the North Atlantic Heavy Equipment Operators Program. While on break he is back working with Marine Contractors Inc. and has been assigned to our trail project along with two other Marine employees.

We may have a future club Trail Director in the making. Thanks Ryan for your years of volunteering with the club and best of luck with your training.

⚠️ NOTICE TO ATV VISITORS⚠️

Our crew working the Corner Brook to Pasadena trail on more than one occasion have met with ATV groups traveling through the region heading toward Deer Lake. Their GPS is telling them this is a route. It will be, but it is not for this year. Most ATV with built in GPS such as Polaris Ride Command (yesterdays group) are using the NLSF trails map. Now a majority of the trails are multipurpose and you will have no issues, but be cautious when planning your trips that your planned route is all ATV accessible. Once we reach Steady Brook we will share that information here and again we will proudly share when we have reached Pasadena. Safe travels everyone, feel free to reach out on our social media with any questions and enjoy your trip to western NL.
This guy in the photo below stopped for directions and boy did his misses give him a big “I told you so “ about checking his route. 😂

Say hi to “Rider”. WSR is please to introduce our new mascot Rider. He will be helping us promote trail safety, club announcements and connecting with our youth who are the future riders and future leaders of our sport. “Rider’s” moto is

“Together we keep the adventure going”.

What does that mean to him? It’s about volunteers, pass holders, community groups, businesses and all levels of government coming together to build a safe and sustainable multipurpose trail network that promotes safe riding, backcountry access and off-road vehicle tourism for our communities.

We look forward to seeing Rider on our social media, some future merchandise and stickers for our kids (and adults too 😉)

Welcome to the team Rider!!!!

In the coming days riders in our region may come across these fine young people. They are a group from Ontario who are walking across NL to raise money for charity. They have chosen the scenic trailway for their journey so if you happen to see them be sure to stop for a hi, drop off a snack or a bottle of water and give them a great NL “how’s yea gettin on”. Oh, bug spray is welcomed. Check out their journey at Meet the Walkers.

Snowmobile Trail passes cover the winter grooming season and cover some of our summer trail repairs. To make the trails in the region more multipurpose we rely on grants, volunteers, donations and fundraising. You can help by purchasing a support sticker for $20. All funds raised go directly into trail upgrades making them more multipurpose which also improves winter grooming.

Friday afternoon was a beautiful event. Phase 1 of the trail project was officially opened and our bridge got its name. Also thanks to funding provided by ISMA (International Snowmobile Manufactures Association) we combined the bridge dedication ceremony with a meeting of all levels of government, off-road dealers, local media and other various contributors to see first hand how our grant money is being spent and the quality work being completed to not only provide an amazing muti-seasonal trail, but to also bring important tourism dollars into the Humber Valley region. Thanks to everyone who attended and thanks for the beautiful memories captured Scott Grant
