Save the date! The Son of Assyria film screening is happening in Vaughan! 🇨🇦

The Assyrian Aid Society of Canada, the Assyrian Chaldean Syriac Student Union of Canada, and the Assyrian Democratic Movement are honoured to host the screening of Son of Assyria in honour of Assyrian Martyrs Day Commemoration. Our guest of honour will be Director Frank Gilbart.

Highlights from .carassauga (May 23rd & 24th, 2026)

On behalf of the Assyrian Aid Society of Canada, we extend our deepest gratitude to the .canadian.society for inviting us to participate in the Iraqi Pavilion at the Carassauga Festival of Cultures.

This event showcased Iraq’s beauty and diversity, as well as our rich indigenous Assyrian heritage. We also want to express our sincere thanks to Bassam Al Bazi, Andy Zurna, and Tony Georgees along with the Ashur Dance Group team for their wonderful efforts in delivering incredible performances to highlight our culture.

We appreciate the many community members who travelled from different cities to celebrate Iraq’s diversity, along with all Canadians from various heritages.

The Assyrian Aid Society of Canada invites you to join us at the Iraqi Pavilion at the Carassauga Festival of Cultures, hosted by The Iraqi Canadian Society, as we proudly showcase the Indigenous Assyrians of Iraq.

We are excited to announce that the talented artists, Bassam Al Bazi and Andy Zurna, will perform the traditional dahula and zurna, as well as Assyrian dance performances will be presented by Ashur Dance Group.

Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Seyfo Genocide. In 1915, hundreds of thousands of Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks perished at the hands of the Ottoman Empire and Kurdish tribes. This day serves as a reminder to honour the victims and survivors of the genocide and reflect on their bravery in the face of oppression.

Our martyrs are the foundation of our history, and their selflessness and sacrifices will never be forgotten. Today and every day, we will remember and honour them.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who visited the CN Tower lighting in honour of Assyrian New Year 6776! Attendees travelled from many cities and brought flags to show their pride and celebrate 6776 years of existence.

A sincere thank you to and for their dahola and zurna performance, for the wonderful tambura, for helping to organize this gathering, as well as .collective for the professional video capture. You all helped to make this celebration extra special for attendees and truly a night to remember!
