DaCi international Community of dance educators promoting the development of dance for young people internationally. Every child has the right to dance.

We believe that all children and young people should be able to express themselves through dance. Our aim is to create possibilities for children and young people around the world to experience dance as creators, performers and spectators. Through dance they can be physically engaged in the world and connect with others across boundaries of culture, language, age, or socio-economic status.

In this festive season, I send you heartfelt thoughts of gratitude, connection, and hope. May dance continue to bring us together across borders, languages, and cultures.
May the coming year offer space for creativity, courage, and joy in dancing together — in studios, classrooms, on stages, in nature, and in everyday life.
Thank you for opening the world to children through dance, and for creating, together with children, a world where expression, belonging, and joy can flourish.

🎉 Proud of our dance ambassadors! 💃

On October 21, a ceremonial award presentation of the Slovenian Congress Ambassador Program took place at Ljubljana Castle, honouring individuals whose professional work and international reputation contribute to the development of professional and scientific events in Slovenia.

🏅 Among the award recipients were dr. Vesna Geršak, Chair of daCi, and Meško, the Slovenian representative for daCi.

They received the award for their outstanding organization of the international congress Dance and the Child International (daCi), which brought 650 participants from 30 countries to Slovenia in July 2024! 🌍

We are proud that dance was recognized among other professional fields, and we warmly congratulate Vesna and Nina for their remarkable contribution. 👏 We are already looking forward to the next daCi conference, which will take place in Malaysia in 2027!

On Thursday, 18 September, Vesna Geršak , daCi Chair, and Jeff Meiners, daCi past Chair attended UNESCO Day in Lipica, organized by the Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO.

Lipica is a historic cultural site in Slovenia, best known as the home of the Lipizzaner horses and as a symbol of European equestrian heritage.

The event showcased intangible cultural heritage, including the “Wind of Peace” project https://www.aspnet.si/windofpeace/en/. The experience will inform daCi’s future work in supporting UNESCO’s mission.

in August 2025, past Chair, Jeff Meiners visited the Archives and Special Collections at the University of Surrey, England, to update daCi archive material.

Jeff viewed a special selection of materials spanning daCi’s beginnings in Canada (1978) and conferences in Sweden (1982), UK (1988), USA (1991), Australia (1994), Finland (1997) and Taiwan (2012). The organisation is most fortunate to have daCi archive material catalogued and available to researchers or to daCi members.

Special thanks to archivists Helen Roberts and Simon Mackley for their diligent work supporting daCi!
