We are just a few weeks away from A Night to Remember on Saturday, November 21st at the Chatham Portuguese Hall.

A Night to Remember is an evening intended to bring our community together to remember those we have lost to the homelessness and toxic drug crisis.

It will also be an opportunity to learn more about these topics through a panel discussion featuring local and provincial experts Diana Chan McNally, Tonya Evans, Andrzej Celinski, and Melissa Harrigan, moderated by Chatham-Kent Community Drug Strategy Coordinator Jordynne Lindsay.

Congratulations to Albert for winning the 2026 Teddy Award, presented by the Chatham-Kent Drug Awareness Council!

Albert provides support to individuals who are experiencing houselessness and using substances, to individuals accessing treatment through Withdrawal Management and Westover Treatment Centre, as well as to folks who are in various stages of recovery through aftercare peer support groups.

He has also co-led 18 anti-stigma Compassionate Approaches to Substance Use & Houselessness trainings with the R.O.C.K. and Community Drug Strategy team reaching nearly 500 individuals.

We are so proud to have Albert as part of the R.O.C.K. team as one of our peers and of all the work he does in our community behind the scenes.

Our P2P program is central to R.O.C.K.’s work in Chatham-Kent, built around peer-led support and the voices of people with lived and living expertise.

The P2P team meets every week, provides community training to reduce stigma around houselessness and substance use, and shows up every day to support the people we serve, connect them with community resources, and do so much more that often goes unseen.

We shared a post earlier in the week talking about the Pathway2Care team, and this highlights one of the amazing partnerships we have in the community.

The P2C team (including a R.O.C.K. peer) are present at the free breakfast at the Spirit and Life Centre every Friday.

Folks are able to access a meal, health care from the Community Paramedic, housing advice from the Municipality of CK Housing Worker, and support from R.O.C.K.

🚐 THE COMPASS PROJECT 🚐

The Compass Project is a peer-led initiative that helps people navigate substance use and health services with compassion, dignity, and respect. By offering navigation support, transportation, and working alongside community partners, we're helping remove barriers to care.

The Compass Project was initally made possible by a grant from the Chatham Kent Community Foundation and the South Kent Wind Community Fund, and the van was graciously donated by United Way of Chatham-Kent.

To keep this project on the road, we need your support! Your contributions to A Night to Remember helps us continue reaching people in our community and providing essential supplies to those who need them.

Pathway2Care (P2C) is an incredible collaboration with local partners in healthcare, housing, social services, and other community organizations that R.O.C.K. is proud to be a part of.

The information included here is just a fraction of what the P2C team does. Weekly clinics are also held at Spirit and Life Centre, Pathways on Park and Chatham Community Hope Centre. ✨ WHAT DO R.O.C.K. VOLUNTEERS DO? ✨

One of our long time volunteers, Chris Rupert, shares about what he does as a volunteer for R.O.C.K. and the importance of the services that we offer to those experiencing homelessness in our community.

He also invites you to attend our upcoming fundraising event, A Night to Remember, on November 21st at the Chatham Portuguese Club. This event will help raise funds to support the programs and services R.O.C.K. offers.

This event is also a great opportunity to learn about R.O.C.K.'s approach, meet the team members, and hear about work happening in C-K and other communities to support individuals who experience challenges related to homelessness and substance use from a dynamic panel of experts.

The event will bring together community members, local partners, organizations, and individuals with lived and living experience of homelessness.
