💜 A Lasting Symbol of Hope in Our Community 💜

On Friday evening, the Zonta Club of Chatham-Kent was proud to unveil our Purple Bench at Grand West Homeopathy.

This beautiful bench, inscribed with "Zonta Club of Chatham-Kent," is part of the global Purple Bench Project (Barb's Bench), which honours victims of domestic and family violence while raising awareness and encouraging conversations that can help create safer communities.

For more than 75 years, the Zonta Club of Chatham-Kent has been dedicated to building a better world for women and girls. We hope this Purple Bench serves as a visible reminder that no one should face violence alone and that support, hope, and compassion exist within our community.

A heartfelt thank you to our club member Brigitte Davis for generously providing a permanent home for the bench at Grand West Homeopathy, in a highly visible location across from the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance hospital campus. We are also grateful to Fabmaster Welding of Ridgetown for manufacturing and installing the bench with exceptional craftsmanship.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the unveiling and to all who continue to support our mission of building a safer, more equitable future for women and girls.

💜 Together, we can raise awareness, inspire change, and build a community where everyone can live free from violence.

We were honoured to attend the Sisters Strain movie premiere of This Women’s Work. The film highlighted dozens of incredible local women and the many ways they contribute to the Chatham-Kent community through leadership, advocacy, volunteerism, and so much more.

It was an inspiring and excellent film, and we were especially proud to see the Zonta Club of Chatham-Kent featured, along with two of our members, Wanda Bell and Dr. Jenny Pelisek.

A wonderful way to celebrate International Women’s Day and recognize the amazing women making a difference in our community. 💜

This morning members of Zonta were honoured to attend the dedication of the Purple Bench in downtown Chatham at Zonta Park. 💜

The Purple Bench serves as a powerful symbol to bring awareness to violence against women and stands as a visible reminder that those experiencing violence are not alone. Every person deserves to feel safe, supported, and heard.

We were grateful to see so many community organizations in attendance who work on the front lines every day supporting those in need, including the Chatham-Kent Women’s Centre, the Sexual Assault Crisis Centre, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, CK Victim Services, and Chatham-Kent Police.

Thank you to these dedicated professionals and volunteers for the compassionate and tireless work you do to support our community. Together, we continue to raise awareness, offer support, and stand united against violence. 💜
