I won't lie...this one hit me right in the feels. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the day to day operations of charitable gaming, but experiences like this are a reminder of the real people behind the funding. Seeing the beginning of a journey that will have such a lasting impact on a family was emotional, inspiring, and incredibly rewarding.

I was invited by Habitat for Humanity Chatham-Kent to attend the groundbreaking for the new home they are building, and it was an experience that genuinely touched my heart.

What makes this project even more meaningful to me is knowing that charitable gaming funds help support initiatives like this. We often talk about dollars raised, volunteer hours, and community impact, but standing there and seeing exactly what that impact looks like was incredibly powerful. This isn't just a house, it's stability, security, opportunity, and a brighter future for a mother and her daughters. The effects of homeownership can be felt for generations, creating a foundation that extends far beyond four walls and a roof.

It was wonderful to see so many members of the community gathered to celebrate this milestone, including Darrin Canniff, Alysson Storey, Councillor, Chatham-Kent, Ontario, and Rhonda Jubenville. Moments like this remind us what can be accomplished when organizations, volunteers, donors, and community partners work together toward a common goal.

A sincere thank you to Anne Taylor and Mike Coyne for including me in such a special occasion. It was also a pleasure meeting Chelsea and her daughters and witnessing the excitement and hope surrounding this next chapter of their lives.

This is what community looks like. This is what happens when people come together to create opportunities for others. And it's yet another example of how cGaming continues to make a meaningful difference in Chatham-Kent. đź’š

Last night, I had the absolute pleasure of attending the Dresden Rotary Club dinner and celebrating the incredible impact this organization continues to make in our community.

I was honoured to present Rotary with a cheque for $14,000 through charitable gaming proceeds from Riverview Gaming Centre and watching those funds immediately flow back into the community was truly inspiring.

The Dresden Rotary Club generously donated to Lambton-Kent Composite School, Dresden Area Central School, Dawn Euphemia Public School, Chatham-Kent Public Library, and the Josiah Henson Museum and Park. All incredible organizations that help shape, support, educate, and preserve the heart of this community.

Moments like this are such a powerful reminder of what charitable gaming and volunteerism are all about. Every bingo shift, every volunteer hour, and every act of generosity helps create opportunities, support students, preserve local history, and strengthen our community for future generations.

A huge thank you to everyone involved for your continued passion and dedication. It was such a wonderful evening filled with kindness, laughter, and community spirit and I’m so grateful to have been part of it. 💚

This was one of those days that truly fills your heart. đź’š

We had the opportunity to go on a huge grocery haul with the Blenheim Rotary Club, and every single item was donated to the soup kitchen at Blenheim Word of Life Church.

Seeing carts full of food knowing it will help feed members of our community was such an amazing experience. There’s something so powerful about people coming together to help others, and it was a beautiful reminder of how much love exists in our community.

So grateful to be a small part of something so meaningful.

Sometimes the things you don’t look forward to end up being exactly what you needed.

I had to attend a compliance meeting with Come Together CK… and let’s be honest, “compliance meeting” doesn’t exactly spark joy. But we sat down, went through all the policies (that we know and don't love) , had some good conversation...and that was that.

Later that night, I was scrolling their page and stumbled across something that stopped me mid-scroll… raised garden beds they had built. And not just any raised beds, these were personalized! Naturally, I did what any reasonable person would do, I ordered some! Some really really big ones. The biggest ones they had ever built!

When they were ready, I was blown away. Not only are they beautiful and sturdy, but they painted them exactly how I love, colorful, bright and even added little green hearts. đź’š

So here’s the thing… what started as a “ugh, I have a compliance meeting” kind of day turned into supporting an amazing local group and ending up with something that genuinely made me happy.

Funny how that works, right? There’s almost always something good hiding in the things we least look forward to you just have to be open to finding it.

Thank you so much to all the volunteers at Come Together CK that built and painted these! Also, thank you to Brent, Kyle and Jeff French for helping me load and unload them. (By help, I mean they did it all, while I watched in amazement!)
