I won't lie...this one hit me right in the feels. Sometimes it's easy to get caught up in the day to day operations of charitable gaming, but experiences like this are a reminder of the real people behind the funding. Seeing the beginning of a journey that will have such a lasting impact on a family was emotional, inspiring, and incredibly rewarding.
I was invited by Habitat for Humanity Chatham-Kent to attend the groundbreaking for the new home they are building, and it was an experience that genuinely touched my heart.
What makes this project even more meaningful to me is knowing that charitable gaming funds help support initiatives like this. We often talk about dollars raised, volunteer hours, and community impact, but standing there and seeing exactly what that impact looks like was incredibly powerful. This isn't just a house, it's stability, security, opportunity, and a brighter future for a mother and her daughters. The effects of homeownership can be felt for generations, creating a foundation that extends far beyond four walls and a roof.
It was wonderful to see so many members of the community gathered to celebrate this milestone, including Darrin Canniff, Alysson Storey, Councillor, Chatham-Kent, Ontario, and Rhonda Jubenville. Moments like this remind us what can be accomplished when organizations, volunteers, donors, and community partners work together toward a common goal.
A sincere thank you to Anne Taylor and Mike Coyne for including me in such a special occasion. It was also a pleasure meeting Chelsea and her daughters and witnessing the excitement and hope surrounding this next chapter of their lives.
This is what community looks like. This is what happens when people come together to create opportunities for others. And it's yet another example of how cGaming continues to make a meaningful difference in Chatham-Kent. đź’š
