You can make a difference! Join our Unison volunteer family today.

Multiple positions available:
- Food Prep Volunteers: Help prepare, portion and package food for our Thrive Food Security Program. Multiple shifts are available.
- Food Rescue Volunteer – Montgomery: Pick up food from a community partner in Montgomery on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and deliver it to Kerby Centre.
- Garden Studio Volunteer: Help welcome visitors and support activities in our Garden Studio. Shifts available multiple days from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Kerby Café Cashier: Looking for friendly volunteers to welcome guests, take orders, and work the till. Shifts run 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. Full training is provided.
- Wise Owl Volunteers: Welcome customers, organize merchandise and support the daily operation of our Wise Owl Boutique. Shift available: Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Switchboard Volunteer – On Call: Help welcome clients and visitors at Unison’s main reception. Provide friendly assistance with parking, directions, general questions, and connecting people with the right staff or program as needed.

Do you have a story about Remembrance Day? Unison News is now accepting stories for the November issue about November 11th, what this day means to you, how it has affected your family and community, and the lessons that have rippled through generations.

Please email your stories as a Word document to [email protected] no later than October 16th. Selected submissions will be published in Unison News, which is read by 50,000 people monthly.

An 80 year old woman died and 150 homes were destroyed when the Bald Range fire forced more than 20,000 evacuations and prompted a provincewide state of emergency in B.C in August.

As the mayor of Summerland, Doug Holmes was not only providing suppoort for his entire community, but had to get his aunt out safely and was evacuted himself.

In this interview with Unison TV he talks about the unique challenges facing seniors as climate related distasters continue to cause evacuations and make being outdoors dangerous on smoke filled days.

Join us as the Unison Wellness Centre collaborates with The ROARR Senior Equine Program to offer a unique and heartwarming experience that combines the joy of equine interaction with community support for seniors.

The program ensures that participating seniors engage in therapeutic equine activities and receive a delicious, warm meal provided by Roarr (Robinson Outreach at RiverCross Ranch). It's an opportunity for seniors to connect with these gentle creatures, fostering emotional bonds and creating memorable moments, all while enjoying nutritious, chef-prepared meals in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Transportation: Bus leaves Unison at Kerby Centre, 1133 7th Avenue Southwest, at 11 am to arrive at Roarr at 11:30 am.
Cut-off Date: Friday, October 9, 2026.
Cost includes transportation and facilitation; lunch and activities are compliments of ROARR.
