Last night, we gathered to celebrate something truly special. 🩷🤍

At our Swan Lake Graduation, we had the honour of celebrating five incredible graduates while recognizing and celebrating all the amazing moms in our program. Every milestone reached is a testament to their resilience, determination and the bright futures they are building for themselves and their families.

We are deeply grateful to the Grow Foundation, the Calgary Foundation and our generous anonymous donors for creating scholarship opportunities that will help our moms continue their educational journeys. Your investment in their futures creates a lasting impact.

A heartfelt thank you to Elder Jackie and Kokum Bertha for joining us and sharing your presence and wisdom. We are also so thankful to our volunteers and Board members who attended, volunteered and donated to help make the evening so meaningful.

To our graduates — we are so proud of you.

More photos from this beautiful evening are coming soon!

We’re grateful for the opportunity to connect with fellow nonprofit organizations, community partners and local leaders while celebrating Stampede season.

Thank you to the Calgary Foundation, REAL Entertainment & Culture Inc., the Calgary Surge, the Calgary Stampede Foundation and the Nonprofit Chamber for bringing everyone together. We loved the opportunity to build new connections and celebrate the strength of our community.

Yesterday we had the honour of welcoming world-renowned hoop dancer Jay Genaille to Highbanks.

Through powerful storytelling and an incredible performance, Jay shared his journey of reconnecting with his Indigenous culture and how hoop dancing helped transform his life. His message was one of resilience, identity, healing and the importance of knowing where we come from.

We are deeply grateful to Jay for travelling all this way to share his time, his story and his incredible talents with our community. Thank you for inspiring our families, and for reminding us of the importance of the strength that can be found in culture and connection.

Thank you, Jay for dancing for us and for sharing a piece of your journey 🧡🪶

June is National Indigenous History Month. Yesterday, here at Highbanks, in partnership with Elizabeth Fry Society, we hosted a celebration in honour of Indigenous Peoples, culture and traditions.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating. We are grateful to all who attended, shared in meaningful conversations, and helped create a space for learning, reflection, and connection.

National Indigenous History Month is an important opportunity to recognize and honour the rich histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. It also reminds us of the ongoing importance of listening, learning, and working together toward reconciliation.

Thank you for being part of this meaningful event and for helping us celebrate and uplift Indigenous voices and stories in our community.
