Are you and your patrol ready to put your skills to the ultimate test? Iron Scout / A5O is coming to Camp Hope Mission the weekend of 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟮–𝟮𝟰, and 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻!

Iron Scout / A5O is a challenge camp unlike any other. Your patrol will compete in a series of challenges designed to test your scout skills, cooking ability, and teamwork - all led by Venturer Scouts from across Chinook Council who will be setting the bar and judging whether your patrol has what it takes.

Two prestigious awards are up for grabs: the Iron Scout Trophy and the A5O Skills Plaque. Think your patrol can bring one or both home?

This event is open to scouts from across Chinook Council. Spots are limited, 𝘀𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗶𝘁, 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 and find out if you have what it takes!

Join Venturers from across Southern Alberta and beyond for Camp California 2026. Take advantage of an enjoyable opportunity to compete and interact in a fun and safe environment.

Competitive events are offered throughout the camp, including a Chili Cook-off, a "Coconut" Chuck, a "Watermelon" Eating Contest and a number of physical and mental challenges on both individual and team bases.

𝗪𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆! 🙌

Volunteers needed for our booth at the Calgary Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show!

Chinook Council will be back at the Calgary Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show on March 21 & 22, and we’re looking for awesome youth (12+) and scouters to help us showcase Scouts Canada to the public.

We’ve divided the weekend into four shifts and need the following for each one:
👕 2 youth (ages 14 and up)
🧣 2 scouters

Since this is a public event, we’re looking for youth who feel comfortable chatting with strangers and sharing what makes Scouts amazing across Chinook Council. Scouters will be there to support as needed, while letting youth take the lead in answering questions and engaging visitors.

🎉 We’ll have our popular button-making activity again this year to help draw families to the booth.

📋 All volunteers will be invited to a short prep session to review expectations and receive quick info guides so everyone feels confident and ready.

Join us for a fun and educational winter outdoor experience at Camp Hope!Where participants will learn how to survive and thrive outdoors in winter conditions!

𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲:
• Shelter building
• Winter clothing and layering
• Winter stove use and safety
• Cold-weather first aid
• Winter travel and packing
• Fire making and trail snacks

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝘀
There will be two youth program levels offered this year:
𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝟭– Introduction to Winter Camping (Day camp)- February 28
For youth who are new to winter camping. Participants will learn essential winter skills as day campers.

𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝟮 – Winter Camping Challenge (Overnight) - February 28 - March 1
For youth who have completed Level 1 or have demonstrated prior winter camping experience. Participants will put their skills to the test with challenges on February 28, camp overnight, and head home on March 1.

𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻
An online Scouter Preparation Session will be held on February 12 (evening; exact time TBD). This session is designed for Scouters who are new to winter camping and winter outdoor skills. Topics will include essential skills to help youth stay warm and safe.

𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱: At least one Scouter from each group attending the Level 1 program
Strongly recommended: Scouters accompanying youth in the Level 2 program
A meeting link will be sent to all registered groups prior to the session.

This week we’re celebrating the incredible youth and volunteers who make Scouting and Guiding such a powerful force in our communities. From outdoor adventures and winter camping to leadership development, community service, and lifelong friendships — the impact goes far beyond the uniform.

We also take a moment to recognize and thank Robert Baden-Powell and Olave Baden-Powell for their vision and dedication in founding the Scouting and Guiding movements. Their legacy continues to inspire generations of young people around the world — including right here in Chinook Council.

𝗧𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀: thank you for your curiosity, courage, and commitment to trying new things.
