አብሮ መስራት ውጤቱ ያማረ ነው። Our mandate, activities, and outcomes are focused on supporting members of Black communities in Canada.

Excel Family and Youth society (EFYS) is a 100% Black-led organization with its head office in Calgary, Alberta. EFYS's mission is to empower, educate, and integrate self-identifying Black Canadians, so that they may live happy, healthy, and productive lives in Canada. Currently, EFYS helps Black Canadian entrepreneurs and businesses, primarily through the delivery of seminars, one-to-one coaching, mentorship, and integration. EFYS acts as a bridge between the Black community and various governmental and nonprofit organizations, assisting its members to understand and use the various resources and supports available. Ultimately EFYS strives to deliver services and support that help Black Canadians realize their full social and economic potential. In addition to our headquarters in Calgary, EFYS maintains branches in Edmonton and Winnipeg with volunteers throughout Canada, serving the needs of Black families. We currently have 550 active members, over seventy-five volunteers, assisting approximately 15,000 Black community members. As a grassroots organization, we collaborate with over twenty-five faith and community-based organizations throughout Canada allowing us to engage directly with a wide spectrum of Black Canadians. Currently, we are working together to educate and inspire all ethnic immigrant groups from Ethiopia and Eritrea to make healthy and positive choices for their lives in Canada. Our society is a bridge between Canadian and ethnic cultural systems. Our goal is to build a stronger community, which can play a positive role in Canadian society and help newcomers to become well-integrated, productive, successful, and proud citizens.

Community Knowledge Hub Program Coordinator
Part-time or full-time, minimum 30 hrs. a week

English – Amharic, Tigrinya, and Oromo languages are an asset

Due to the nature of our work, all candidates will be subject to due diligence checks and extensive background checks where appropriate.

Working in tandem with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, the Community Hub Program coordinator will:

1. Handle the day-to-day communications for the Board of Directors and Executive Director of the organization.
2. Answer calls, take messages, schedule meetings, and write letters or prepare draft press releases. He or she opens and sorts mail and delivers it to the appropriate personnel. She or he might respond to email inquiries or route them to the executive. The Director proofreads reports and written documents and also creates draft communications for the director's overview.

3. Record and Manage Centralized Data Systems

4. Present activity report at quarterly board meetings and announcements. The responsibility of maintaining electronic and paper filing systems falls on her or his shoulders.

5. Recruit volunteer instructors and create schedules. Follow and implement the Lesson plans approved by the board of directors.

6. Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the operations of youth effectiveness training.

● Social work Diploma or BA in relevant discipline,

● 1-to-2-year experience in Youth counseling, Teaching, Summer Camp coordinator –

● Knowledge of community resiliency and capacity building practices.

Established in 2010, Excel Family & Youth Society (EFYS) is a federally registered charitable organization headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. Since its founding in April 2010, EFYS has been dedicated to supporting low‑income, newly arrived Canadians as they navigate the challenges of settlement, integration, and economic stability.

EFYS also serves as a vital bridge between the Black community and governmental as well as nonprofit institutions. Through this role, EFYS helps community members understand, access, and benefit from the wide range of resources and supports available to them.

Ultimately, EFYS is committed to delivering programs and services that reduce poverty, strengthen employment readiness, and foster long‑term stability for families and youth across Canada.
