September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. A day to honour the children who never returned home, Survivors of residential schools, and the generations of families and communities impacted by the residential school system.

At Mamas for Mamas, we recognize that reconciliation is not a single day. It is an ongoing responsibility to listen to Indigenous voices, learn the truth of our shared history, and take meaningful action toward a more just and equitable future.

Today, we encourage our community to make space for learning, reflection, and conversation.

Back to school isn’t just pencils and backpacks.

It’s groceries disappearing faster because lunches are being packed again. Shoes that don’t fit anymore. Bus fees. School fees. Childcare. Sports registration. A calculator. Period products. A teenager who needs counselling. A parent trying to figure out which bill can wait until next payday.

Our auction has been live for about a week, but there’s still time to get your bids in. Every bid helps us support families impacted by wildfires across our community.
Proceeds from this auction go directly toward our wildfire relief efforts, helping families as they return home after evacuation - whether they need support replacing essentials, getting settled back in, or covering the many unexpected costs that come with returning after a wildfire.

And for families who have lost their homes entirely, we’re there to help them begin again - providing support as they navigate the overwhelming process of rebuilding their lives from the ground up.
There are still plenty of items waiting for their first bid.

We are so incredibly grateful for the generosity and support our community has shown families displaced by the wildfires. ❤️‍🩹 Your donations, shares, and willingness to help have made a real difference.

We need to make one very important update: As much as we appreciate every single person who wants to donate, WE CANNOT ACCEPT ANY MORE USED ITEMS AT THIS TIME.

We now have more than enough gently used clothing and household items, and our limited space is needed for the most urgent supplies.

For anyone who would still like to help, we are accepting NEW items only, including:

• Gift cards for food and gas
• New underwear and socks — all sizes
• Deodorant
• Diapers — all sizes
• Baby wipes
• Formula
• Back-to-school supplies
• Snacks for kids and adults

Please know that this is not because used donations aren’t appreciated. They absolutely are. We are simply at capacity for used items right now and want to make sure every donation we receive can go directly toward what families need most.

If you have used items to donate, please hold onto them for now rather than bringing them to us. We will share an update if that need changes.

We are so grateful for the generosity and support of our community for those who have been displaced by wildfires. Your donations, shares, and willingness to help has made a true difference.

We need to make one update in particular:
As much as we appreciate every single person wanting to help, we are NOT taking any used items at this time.

We currently have more than enough gently used items, and our limited space is needed for the most urgent supplies.

Please know this isn’t because used donations aren’t appreciated, they are. But we are simply at capacity for user and we want to make sure every donation we receive can go to what families need most. We will share an update if this need changes at any point.
