PSA: In light of recent events in Fish Creek Park, Run Calgary is reminding our communty to look after one another.
Everyone deserves to feel safe moving through public spaces, whether they’re training for a marathon, walking a dog, commuting, or simply enjoying a walk in the park. The solution can’t only be ‘be more careful.’ It also requires community vigilance, investment in safe infrastructure, responsive systems, and a culture where people look out for one another.
Running should feel freeing, not frightening. We share practical safety reminders while also recognizing that many people, especially women, are navigating barriers to participation that others never have to consider. Safety and inclusion go hand in hand.
