This October, a little magic is on the way ✨ Six families from our Children’s Grief Centre will be sending their kids on a 1 day trip to Disneyland! Dreams Take Flight Calgary is a non-profit charity dedicated to providing the trip-of-a-lifetime to deserving children in Southern Alberta.

Our staff, dressed as disney characters, recently hosted a launch night, to prepare the group for their Dreams Take Flight experience. After loss, many families miss out on moments like this, which makes it even more meaningful 🤍 We’re so grateful for our partnership with Dreams Take Flight Calgary. 💙

Yesterday, we gathered for our Annual General Meeting. Filled with reflection, connection, and heartfelt moments, it was a powerful reminder of just how important community is.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us, including our donors, volunteers, staff, partners, and the many supporters who make Hospice Calgary’s work possible. Because of you, individuals and families in our Children's Grief Centre, Osten-Victor Living with Advanced Illness Centre and Rosedale Hospice are met with care, understanding, and support through some of life’s most difficult moments.

We’re proud of all we’ve accomplished together this past year, and we look forward to continuing this important work in the year ahead.

🌿 National Indigenous Peoples Day 🌿

Today, we join in honouring and celebrating the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

At Hospice Calgary, we are privileged to walk alongside individuals and families through illness, end-of-life, and grief. In this work, we see every day how deeply culture, connection, and storytelling shape healing and remembrance.

We also reflect, with humility, on the ongoing systemic inequities that impact Indigenous Peoples — particularly in healthcare and education — and the role we each have in creating a more compassionate and inclusive community. These realities call us to listen more deeply, learn more openly, and act with intention.

🧡 We invite you to pause, reflect, and, if you’re able, take part in one of the many events happening across Calgary to honour National Indigenous Peoples Day.

Two weeks ago, we held a Spring Fling for our Children's Grief Centre clients. The sunny evening consisted of face painting, games, a photo booth, and food trucks in our Dibb Family Garden.

A heartfelt thank you to our food truck vendors - Kona Ice of Calgary and The Dogfather - for working within our budget and going above and beyond to make our families feel special. Your kindness, generosity and enthusiasm was the highlight of our event. Shoutout to Patty & Bruce whose generous donation made the food trucks possible!
