Lorne Greene stepped away from a promising CBC broadcast career to serve in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War.

Following his service, he returned to Toronto and established the Academy of Radio Arts, where he would help launch the acting careers of fellow Canadian Second World War Veterans James Doohan and Leslie Nielsen. All three would enjoy tremendous success in film and television. Notably, Lorne Greene starred in the long-running Bonanza and Battlestar Galactica TV series.

Former students Doohan and Nielsen were invited to play guest roles on Bonanza before landing their own iconic roles as Scotty in the original Star Trek series and Frank Drebin from the Police Squad/The Naked Gun franchises.

You never know where the discipline, skills and connections developed in the military may take you.

Lorne Greene died September 11, 1987 at the age of 72.

WO Lee is having an amazing trip with his school, experiencing many once in a lifetime opportunities ... Being a part of the Last Post ceremony at Menin Gate (Ypres, Belgium) and at Arc de Triomphe (Paris, France), visiting Canada House on Juno Beach (Normandy).
