Winter or Spring? Nature can't seem to decide!

Despite all the fresh snow, winter activities at Shaganappi Golf Course are over for the season 😢; volunteers have been busy with seasonal teardown and the golf crews are out getting their operations up. With that said, we need your help with our shutdown! We are organizing a work party this coming Saturday March 28th at 10am to finalize our winter operations shutdown - reach out if you'd like to join!

Finally, a massive thank you to our volunteers who kept the trails in shape all season and to our supporters and donors: Bow Cycle & Sports, Conway Injury Law, Taylor Law, Parks Foundation, the City of Calgary, Tourism Calgary and last but not least the amazing community of winter enthusiasts here in Calgary!

Winter Keeps on Going!⛄

Big shoutout to our volunteers who were out after this recent snowfall! All trails have been packed or rolled: fatbike, XC ski and multi-use trails.

No tracksetting right now on the ski trails due to snow depth, but good conditions to be had! Go enjoy the trails before spring sets in for good.

If you enjoyed the trails this winter, consider a donation to help cover operating costs!

Good Conditions Out There!

Fat Bike trails have been groomed as of Thursday and XC ski trails have just been groomed and trackset - excellent skate skiing conditions are reported! Conditions are generally pretty good, but please be mindful of underlying ice on the T-bar trail (advanced xc ski loop) and the blue fat bike trail, as well as some thinly covered areas.

A big thank you to our hard-working grooming volunteers for getting the trails back in tip-top shape!

Welcome Back Winter!

Our brave volunteers have been out in the cold packing in the new snow over the last two days. Most XC ski trails and fat bike trails have been packed or rolled, however with the high winds, it may be hard to notice at times 🙃.

Stay tuned for more updates once we get all the trails re-groomed and stay warm!

We're still feeling the buzz from last weekend!

A massive massive thank you to our local ski & bike shops and countless volunteers and other organizations who helped us deliver another sensational Chinook Blast weekend! The smiles on people's faces, whether it was their first time on skis, or their thousandth time on a fat bike - was unmistakable.

Here's to a great weekend spent recreating right in our own amazing city!

Chinook Blast is this Weekend! Come out and enjoy some winter sports in the not-so-cold weather!

Lots of fun and exciting fat bikes and xc skis to try out! (and snag some tips and tricks from some Pro's)

Conditions:

Fat Biking - The Green Flag Trail (Yips), the Multi-Use Yellow Flag Trails and the 2 Southern most Blue Flag Trails (Infinity) are in pretty good shape. Please ride attentively - some Ice lurks here and there but is bonded lightly to the ground (no mud though!). On hills, please watch for ice - even though many are clear. Finally, please avoid all the Eastern most Blue Flag trails, they are bumpy from walkers and poor bonding to the underlying ice

XC Skiing - The top of Alpine 2 and the training grid still have decent coverage - please watch your step getting out on the groomed snow though!

Winter's back!

Thanks to the fresh snow, volunteers were able to get out on the golf course and do some track packing of trails. Skiing conditions are fair when on grassy sections, however be aware of underlying ice, gravel or pavement (T-Bar/Expert loop is not recommended due to this).

Skiing Recommendations:
- Junction 1 to 7, 7 to 8, 8 back to 1,
- Junction 9 to 10
- Junction 5 to 9

Please stay off of tee boxes, and if you see any debris on trails - give us a hand by removing it from the trails!

Is it April or is it January?

This past week's chinook took out most of the snow at Shaganappi Golf Course 😢. The trails are either bare or a sheet of ice... not recommended at this time.

We are still hopeful that we will receive some snow in the next few weeks, in time for our Chinook Blast events on January 31st and February 1st! For now, do your snow dances!
