Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at CDC! 🍂

This week, our kitchen served up a delicious Thanksgiving dinner for our clients, their families, and staff. On every table sat a handwritten note from a donor, each one carrying a message of encouragement for whoever picked it up.

No one is beyond hope. Hope and healing live in this place, and moments of gratitude around a table, reading words from people who believe in you, are what community is all about.

To every donor who wrote a note of encouragement this Thanksgivng: thank you. ❤️

Overdose calls in Calgary are up 143%.

Calgary Firefighters Association responded to 143% more overdose calls in the first seven months of 2026 than they did during the same period last year. In July alone, that was an average of more than 35 overdose calls a day.
Behind every one of those calls is a person with a story that isn't finished yet. No one is beyond hope.

Today we pause to honour the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

This morning at Freedom House, we gathered to listen. Speakers generously shared their story with us and took time to answer questions from our participants and staff. We are deeply grateful for their courage, honesty, and willingness to teach us.

September 30 is a day to remember the children who never came home from residential schools, to honour the Survivors, and to recognize the families and communities who continue to carry the impacts today. Reconciliation begins with truth, and truth begins with listening.

At the Calgary Dream Centre, we believe healing happens in community. We are committed to continuing to learn, to listen, and to walk alongside Indigenous peoples on the path toward reconciliation.
