Cats Home Foundation Creating better futures for cats and kittens | Cats Home Foundation is a registered Canadian charity operating in Alberta, Canada 🩷🐱

Cats Home Foundation strives to provide a safe haven for homeless cats and kittens through innovative welfare and educational programs, such as home-based rehoming centres, Catch Neuter Vaccinate Return (CNVR) programs, bottle kitten nursery centres, and cat care & advocacy groups. Cats Home Foundation is based in Alberta, Canada and was formed to address the overwhelming over-population of cats and kittens in rural and urban areas where necessary resources are low or lack accessibility, resulting in unmanaged colonies of both friendly and feral cats. Many of these cats are unfixed, unvaccinated, and are suffering from illness, injury, and starvation on a daily basis. Cats Home Foundation’s goal is to work with communities that are home to unmanaged colonies to help prevent suffering, provide support to community members and cats, and to work together to reduce over-populations through sustainable management programs to improve the lives and welfare of cats and communities in Alberta.

Oliver’s face says it all. This donation has his enthusiastic approval. 🩷

A heartfelt thank-you to Sovereign General Insurance for donating $2,000 in gift cards to purchase much-needed cat litter and supplies for the kitties in our care!

These everyday essentials help keep our cats comfortable and their spaces clean while they wait for loving homes. It’s practical support that makes a difference every single day.

Sovereign helps protect Canadian businesses, and we’re grateful to see their care extend to the cats in our community, too.

Thank you to the Sovereign team for your generosity and for helping us give our cats the care they deserve. Oliver is happy to supervise the shopping. 🛍️

Oliver Twist would like to announce that nearly all his friends have found homes. Obviously, the best has been saved for last. He’s checked. It’s him.

In the last week, nearly all the cats at our Adoption Centre found their forever homes! 🩷 Our community stepped up, opened their hearts, and made room for some very deserving cats. We’re so grateful, and Oliver is delighted for his former neighbours.

With fewer cats to supervise, he appears to have appointed himself building manager. Top-floor office. Excellent visibility. Opinions available without an appointment.

This handsome Bengal would love a home where he can supervise your activities, share his thoughts, and be involved in absolutely whatever you’re doing.

Think you could be his people? Apply to meet Oliver Twist at our Adoption Centre in Pisces Pet Emporium.

Please share to help him find his family. He’s ready to manage a much larger property. Preferably yours. 🏠

🩷 MARSHMALLOW IS HOME! 🐾

Just a few days ago, Marshmallow was facing a life-threatening emergency. He couldn’t urinate, and emergency surgery was his only option.

Today, we have some wonderful news to share!

Marshmallow is home from Trinity Hills 24-Hour Pet Hospital and settling in with one of our medical fosters. And best of all? His catheter is out, and he’s p*eing on his own! 🩷

He’s also eating and drinking really well, and we’re so happy to see this sweet little guy making such encouraging progress.

At not quite six months old, Marshmallow has already been through more surgeries and hospital stays than any kitten should have to experience. Seeing him back in a home, comfortable and recovering, is something we’re incredibly grateful for. And don’t worry — he has his pink blanket! 🩷

A huge thank-you to the wonderful veterinary teams at Trinity Hills 24-Hour Pet Hospital and Rocky Ridge Pet Hospital for all the hard work, dedication, and compassionate care they’ve given Marshmallow throughout his medical journey. He’s had quite the complicated start to life, and we’re so thankful for everyone who has helped him get this far.

And to our amazing Cats Home community, thank you for showing up for Marshmallow. Whether you donated, shared his story, sent some love, or simply cheered him on, you’ve been part of helping this little boy get the care he needed. 🩷

For now, Marshmallow’s only job is to rest, recover, soak up all the attention he can get, and hopefully get back to being the playful, purring little kitten we know and love.

We’re hoping the next chapter of Marshmallow’s story involves a lot fewer veterinary visits and a whole lot more biscuits on his favourite pink blanket. 🩷🐾

Shopping Prime Big Deal Days? Oliver Twist has a suggestion: add the cats to your list! 🐾

Oliver is a Bengal with a full schedule. He claims the highest spot in the room to supervise everyone’s work, inserts himself into every task, and provides loud commentary throughout. Dinner is late? He’ll tell you. Dinner is on time? He may still have notes.

His latest announcement is one we can get behind: if you’re placing an Amazon order, please consider buying an item from our wish list for the cats and kittens in our care.

Oliver has paw-selected several items of interest, mostly food and treats. He’d also like us to stop calling the delivery boxes “recycling.” Those are his offices. 🩷

🚨 EMERGENCY: MARSHMALLOW NEEDS LIFESAVING SURGERY 🚨

Just 2½ weeks ago, Marshmallow underwent what we hoped would be his last corrective surgery.

Today, this little kitten is back in the hospital facing another life-threatening emergency. 💔🐾

Marshmallow’s foster noticed that he was unable to p*e and rushed him to emergency. Despite attempts to catheterize him, he continued to be unable to urinate.

As a complication of the medical issues he has faced since he was only a few weeks old, the opening that allows urine to leave his body has closed.

There is nowhere for his urine to go.

Marshmallow is now hospitalized at Trinity Hills 24 Hour Pet Hospital, where it has been determined that he needs emergency PU surgery to create a new opening that will allow him to urinate.

It is the only option for him, and it needs to happen now.

Thankfully, Marshmallow is currently stable. He is receiving pain medication, lots of care and, of course, snuggles while he waits for surgery. 🩷

And this little guy has so much waiting for him on the other side.

Marshmallow isn’t even six months old. He loves to play, purr, be the centre of attention, and curl up with the pink faux fur blanket he has had since he was a newborn.

We want to see him back home with that blanket, playing and feeling like himself again.

We need to raise approximately $2,800 to cover Marshmallow’s emergency surgery and hospitalization, and we’re asking our community to help us get him there.

Every donation, big or small, brings us closer to giving Marshmallow the surgery that can save his life.

🩷 HOW TO HELP

💳 Donate: https://www.catshome.org/donate
📱 E-transfer: [email protected]

For a tax receipt for an e-transfer donation over $25, please include your full name, mailing address, and email address in the transfer notes.

Can’t donate today? Please leave Marshmallow some love in the comments and share his story. You never know who it might reach.

With your help, we can give Marshmallow the surgery he needs and hopefully get him back to the important things: his pink blanket, his people, and simply being a kitten. 🩷🐾

It’s decorative gourd season. 🍁 The cats remain unclear on why we’ve brought home vegetables they’re not allowed to snack on knock off the table.

Pumpkin spice? They’ll stick with tuna. 🍣
Cozy sweaters? They’re already wearing fur. 🧥
A soft blanket and someone cancelling plans to stay home with them? Finally, a fall tradition they can support. 😻

Happy October from Cats Home Foundation, where the cats are embracing sweater weather by getting their hair on all of yours. 🐈🩷

What’s your cat’s favourite fall activity? Birdwatching? Blanket borrowing? Becoming your reason to cancel plans?

Every child should have been able to come home.

To the people who loved them. To hear their language, learn from their Elders, and grow up knowing they belonged.

Orange Shirt Day began with the story of Phyllis Webstad, who shared how her new orange shirt was taken from her on her first day at residential school. Her story became a reminder that every child deserves to feel valued, respected, and loved.

Today, we remember the Indigenous children who never returned from residential schools and honour Survivors, their families, and their communities.

In our Cats Home community, inclusion and love mean listening to Indigenous voices, learning from Survivors, and standing against racism, today and every day.

For the children who never came home. For Survivors and their families. For every child growing up today.

Every Child Matters. 🧡

The fish tank has a lid. Niblet has questions about that. 🐟

This curious little kitten loves watching the fish and has already figured out how to take the lid off for a closer look. Just a look, she promises. Probably.

Niblet is funny, clever (possibly too clever), and quite certain she’s in charge. She has a big personality packed into a very small kitten, and she’ll be available for adoption soon. 🩷

The fish would like you to apply for Niblet the moment she’s available. Until then, they’ve requested a password-protected lid. 📱
