This past Baptism Sunday, we had the joy of witnessing people publicly declare their faith in Jesus Christ!

Baptism is more than a moment in the water. It’s a beautiful picture of the Gospel — identifying with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.

Buried with Christ. Raised to walk in newness of life. 🙌

As Romans 6:4 reminds us, just as Christ was raised from the dead, we too are called to walk in newness of life.

What a beautiful reminder that salvation is found in Jesus alone, and baptism is an outward declaration of the faith we have placed in Him.

Church family, let’s continue to pray for and encourage those who took this step of obedience as they continue following Jesus! ❤️

💬 What has baptism meant to you in your walk with Christ? We’d love to hear your story in the comments!

One God. Three persons. How can both be true?
The Trinity can be difficult to fully understand—but it reveals something incredible about who our God is.

Q: How many persons are there in God?
A: There are three persons in the one true and living God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are the same in substance, equal in power and glory.

Christianity doesn’t teach that we worship three gods. Scripture reveals one God who eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Distinct persons.
Equal in power and glory.
One true and living God.

And while we may never fully comprehend everything about God’s nature, we can know Him because He has revealed Himself to us.

As you reflect on Question 3 this week:
How does knowing God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit shape the way you understand who He is?

Your circumstances don’t have to determine your prayers. 🙏

Paul wrote Philippians from prison. His freedom was limited, his future uncertain—yet his heart wasn’t consumed with himself.

He was praying for others.

In Philippians 1:3–11, Paul thanks God for the people around him and prays that their love would grow, their discernment would deepen, and their lives would be filled with the fruit that comes through Jesus Christ.

That challenges us.

When life gets difficult, our prayers can quickly become, “God, change my circumstances.”
But what if we also prayed:
“God, keep changing me—and use me to strengthen the people around me. Thank Father for the body of believers that encourage me”

Paul reminds us that spiritual growth doesn’t have to stop when life gets hard. Even in the waiting, the uncertainty, or the struggle, God is still at work.

Who is God — really?

It’s easy to build a picture of God based on our experiences, assumptions, or even what we want Him to be.

But Scripture gives us something far greater.

Q: What is God?
A: God is the creator and sustainer of everyone and everything. He is eternal, infinite, and unchangeable in His power and perfection, goodness and glory, wisdom, justice, and truth. Nothing happens except through Him and by His will.

God isn’t simply part of our lives. He is the One who created all things, sustains all things, and remains completely faithful to who He is.

And the more we understand who God is, the more it changes how we see everything else.

📖 Psalm 86:8–10, 15

This week, take some time to reflect:

Which truth about who God is do you need to remember most right now?

Where do you put your hope when life feels uncertain?

Our circumstances change. Our plans change. Even the things we think we can control can change overnight.

But the Christian hope rests somewhere far more secure.

Q: What is our only hope in life and death?
A: That we are not our own, but belong to God.

Romans 14:7–8 reminds us that whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

That means our hope isn’t ultimately found in having everything figured out, having the perfect circumstances, or knowing what comes next.

Our hope is found in knowing whose we are.
In life and in death, we belong to God.

As you reflect on this first question of the New City Catechism, ask yourself:
What have I been putting my hope in lately?

You can’t move forward if you’re still living in what’s behind you.

You haven’t arrived yet. And that’s okay.

Paul could have looked back at everything God had already done in his life and thought, “I’ve made it.”

Instead, he says: I press on.

That’s such an important picture of following Jesus.
Christian faith isn’t about reaching a point where we have everything figured out. There’s always more of Jesus to know, more room to grow, and more of our lives to surrender to Him.

And sometimes pressing forward means we have to stop living in what’s behind us.

Past failures.
Past successes.
Past seasons.
Even past versions of ourselves.

Philippians 3:12–14 reminds us that spiritual growth keeps our eyes forward — pursuing Christ and becoming more like Him.

We may not be where we want to be yet.
But we keep pressing on.

What if the way you see yourself is shaping the way you follow Jesus?

Our identity was never meant to be built on approval, achievement, status, or what others think of us.

Scripture reminds us who we are:

Servants of Christ.
We live for His approval, not the approval of people.
Galatians 1:10

Saints in Christ.
We live set apart for His glory, bearing fruit that reflects Jesus.
Philippians 1:10–11

Saved by Christ.
We live reconciled to God, made new through Jesus.
Romans 5:10

Servants of Christ.
Saints in Christ.
Saved by Christ.

This isn’t just what we’re called. It’s who we are because of Jesus.
And when we know who we are in Christ, it changes the way we live.
