June is Seniors Month in Ontario, a time to honour and celebrate the contributions seniors have made to help make this province the great place it is today. This year’s theme, Ontario Seniors – Let’s Get Moving, highlights the importance of helping seniors stay active and engaged in their communities.

Seniors Month is a wonderful reminder of the value of intergenerational relationships. When children and older adults connect, everyone benefits! These meaningful connections help build stronger communities and foster understanding, empathy, and belonging across generations.

Emphasizing the critical role of parents in the rearing of children, the Global Day of Parents recognizes that the family has the primary responsibility for the nurturing and protection of children. This year's theme is "Together for Parents."

We are proud that funds raised from donations are directed towards programs for children and youth to make a significant, positive impact in their lives.

Now more than ever, youth in our community need our help. We’ve partnered with The Home Depot Canada Foundation to help raise funds for children, youth, and their families in Halton!

DID YOU KNOW? The Home Depot Canada Foundation is committed to preventing and helping to end youth homelessness. In 2025, The Home Depot Canada Foundation achieved $94M in our commitment to $125M by 2030. Together, this support works to break cycles of inequity and enable at-risk youth facing homelessness to achieve positive development outcomes and realize their full potential.

The Orange Door Project campaign is The Home Depot Canada’s national customer fundraising campaign. From now until June 14, 2026, The Home Depot Canada customers can make a donation in-store or online (orangedoorproject.ca) in support of a local youth-focused housing charity. In addition, on May 23 2026, all donations made in store and online will be matched by The Home Depot Canada Foundation.

All funds raised at the Burlington and Milton Home Depot stores during the campaign will support the Children's Aid Foundation of Halton.

May 14th is Children and Youth in Care Day.

The Ontario government officially recognized the day through the Children and Youth in Care Day Act, 2014. The purpose of the day is to recognize the valuable contributions of current and former youth in care to communities across Ontario.
