CRA WILL NEVER CONTACT YOU THIS WAY!! NEVER CLICK ON ANY LINK IN AN EMAIL OR TEXT FROM CRA, ONLY LOGIN VIA THE PORTAL VIA AN AUTHORIZED SIGN-IN PARTNER!!!

A Canada Revenue Agency spokesperson says a phishing campaign is ongoing by scammers who are impersonating the CRA. There are ways to spot the scam.

I received this today from my financial planners at Manulife Bank, but their warnings are relevant to every financial institution.

"We will never:
‌1. Ask for your password, two-factor authentication code (2FA), or PIN by phone, email, or text.
2. Request personal information, money or recommend specific investments through social media or messaging apps.
3. Ask you to keep a security matter confidential from family members or law enforcement."

REMEMBER, NEVER SIGN IN ANYWHERE VIA A PROVIDED LINK, NEVER REVEAL YOUR PASSWORD AND ALWAY BE SUSPICIOUS! 99% OF SCAMS CAN BE STOPPED IN THE FIRST 10 SECONDS!

Everyday, our scammer friends get more and more creative, now even impersonating the Toronto Police Service!!

TRUST NO ONE!!! If you receive this call and you are still unsure, perhaps you had sometyhing real that you reported to the police, get their name, badge number and division, AND YOU LOOK THAT UP SEPERATELY, NEVER CALL A NUMBER PROVIDED!!

Make sure your Iphones are set to:
1. not share name and photo
2. make sure that your "Screen Unknown Callers is set to either "ask for a reason for calling" or "Silence", real calls will leave voicemail, scammers very rarely do.
** Android phones have very similar settings**

It is very sad that this is the world that we now live in, but all we can do is be prepared to protect ourselves.

This email came earlier today, it's clearly a scam!

How do we know this?? The first thing is, do I even use cloud storage? I do, but it's not service! SCAM!

More importantly, look at the source email address, have you even heard of this company?

Here is a new take on the "login and update" scam, and not a bad one in fact....Except...

1. all the links go to https://sikhmotorcycleclubontario.ca/pur/?contact-us
2. It came from "[email protected]"
3. a hover over the "Access your Profile" takes you to https://sikhmotorcycleclubontario.ca/pur/?contact-us

REMEMBER THAT 99% OF ALL SCAMS CAN END IN THE FIRST 15 SECONDS, DELETE THAT EMAIL AND MARK AS JUNK, HANG UP THE PHONE AND DELETE THAT TEXT MESSAGE!!
