Stop Scamming Canadians

There are always good news stories about catching these people, but sadly for every one that's caught, there's 1000 more hiding in the darkness.

Expect Nigeria to do nothing about this criminal or the scamming industry in general, there are too many bribes to be paid and too much corruption, an investigation and persecution requires resources that they either don't have or chose to allocate.

This was dropped into my inbox today, and it is clearly a scam on many many levels!!

Remember: 99% of all scams can be stopped in the first 10 seconds, delete it, block it, hang up the call, block the text and restart browser if a pop up occurs!!

This came into my inbox yesterday, clearly must have been designed by some weird AI scammer, combining Facebook with Apple Pay. It's clearly fake, but I thought I might have a bit of fun and call them but the number was already out of service.

Unless you know the source, assume it's a scam!!

These stories are heartbreaking, preying on the lonely, the weak, the desperate, and it's getting more common not less.

REMEMBER!! 99% of all scams can be stopped in the first 15 seconds, hang up, block the number, block the text, close the webpage and delete the email and flag as junk!!

CRA WILL NEVER CONTACT YOU THIS WAY!! NEVER CLICK ON ANY LINK IN AN EMAIL OR TEXT FROM CRA, ONLY LOGIN VIA THE PORTAL VIA AN AUTHORIZED SIGN-IN PARTNER!!!

A Canada Revenue Agency spokesperson says a phishing campaign is ongoing by scammers who are impersonating the CRA. There are ways to spot the scam.

I received this today from my financial planners at Manulife Bank, but their warnings are relevant to every financial institution.

"We will never:
‌1. Ask for your password, two-factor authentication code (2FA), or PIN by phone, email, or text.
2. Request personal information, money or recommend specific investments through social media or messaging apps.
3. Ask you to keep a security matter confidential from family members or law enforcement."

REMEMBER, NEVER SIGN IN ANYWHERE VIA A PROVIDED LINK, NEVER REVEAL YOUR PASSWORD AND ALWAY BE SUSPICIOUS! 99% OF SCAMS CAN BE STOPPED IN THE FIRST 10 SECONDS!
