Compassion Society of Halton

Compassion Society of Halton We respond to the needs of our community with support and connections by providing food, clothing, hygiene items and referrals.

In a community such as Burlington, our past Mayor, Rick Goldring, has often pointed out, it is easy to forget that a great many of our citizens are suffering hardship and poverty. That's where Compassion Society of Halton steps in. From humble beginnings in Mina Wahidi's basement, Compassion Society has grown from a single rack of donated clothes to one of the major contributors to the well being

of our most vulnerable citizens. With the assistance of our sponsors, donors, staff and volunteers we now help thousands of Halton's needy citizens. We continue to provide clothing, food and community service referrals to all who require these fundamentals of decent living. We demonstrate respect, confidentiality, sensitivity, inclusion, desire for social justice and well being, and transparency in our finances. We help many local men, women and children who desperately need our services and goods from time to time and often more frequently to simply help make ends meet. Compassion Society has been awarded with the Mayors award for Service in 2018. Several volunteers have been recognized for their dedication and work:

+ Jeremy Heatley (Burlington Citizen of the year 2004)
+ Julie Hellam (Burlington award for empowering women)
+ Edwin Broadus (Aldershot Honour Roll 2018)
+ Ron Hardy (Aldershot Honour Roll 2019)

πŸŽ’πŸŽ A HUGE thank you to DLL for their incredible generosity!

DLL originally committed to preparing 200 school snack packs for kids, but when it came time for pickup, we were thrilled to learn that they had gone above and beyond and prepared 400 snack packs instead! ❀️

This generous act of kindness will help ensure that even more children have access to nutritious snacks to support them throughout their school day.

A special thank you to Camila, who coordinated this wonderful donation alongside her DLL colleagues. Your leadership, compassion, and teamwork have made a meaningful impact on the lives of so many children and families in our community.

We are truly grateful for partners like DLL who step up in such a big way to support local children and help strengthen our community.

From all of us, thank you for making a difference -> one snack at a time. πŸ’™

This past Saturday, we had a booth at the Lions Club Garage Sale. We handed out approximately 50 food drive bags, generously donated by The Morren Group at Remax Escarpment Realty Inc., and spoke to many people about what we do. It was a great day!

A huge thank you to our wonderful neighbours at the Mandarin Restaurants for their incredible generosity and ongoing support of the Compassion Society of Halton.

For the past few weeks, they have treated our team and volunteers to a delicious lunch and made a generous donation to help support our work in the community. Their kindness and commitment to giving back make a real difference to the people we serve.

We are grateful not only for this thoughtful gesture, but also for the ongoing support and friendship they have shown us as neighbours. Community partnerships like this help us continue provide assistance where it's needed, when it's needed.

Thank you, Mandarin, for helping make our community stronger! ❀️

πŸ‹ From a lemonade stand to 200 lbs of hope.

A brother and sister recently set up a lemonade stand, and with every cup sold, they were thinking of someone else. With the money they raised, they went out and purchased 200 lbs of food and hygiene items, then brought it all straight to our door for the families we serve.

This is what a community looks like. Two young hearts who decided to make a difference β€” and did.

Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts. You've reminded us all that kindness has no age limit. 🧑
