We respond to the needs of our community with support and connections by providing food, clothing, hygiene items and referrals.

We are NOT TAKING ANY CLOTHING DONATIONS! In a community such as Burlington, our past Mayor, Rick Goldring, has often pointed out, it is easy to forget that a great many of our citizens are suffering hardship and poverty. That's where Compassion Society of Halton steps in. From humble beginnings in Mina Wahidi's basement, Compassion Society has grown from a single rack of donated clothes to one of the major contributors to the well being of our most vulnerable citizens. With the assistance of our sponsors, donors, staff and volunteers we now help thousands of Halton's needy citizens. We continue to provide clothing, food and community service referrals to all who require these fundamentals of decent living. We demonstrate respect, confidentiality, sensitivity, inclusion, desire for social justice and well being, and transparency in our finances. We help many local men, women and children who desperately need our services and goods from time to time and often more frequently to simply help make ends meet. Compassion Society has been awarded with the Mayors award for Service in 2018. Several volunteers have been recognized for their dedication and work:

🎁 Holiday Gift Card Program Update 🎁

Our Holiday Gift Card Program is underway, and we need your help to reach our $35,000 goal!

Gift cards let our clients choose exactly what their family needs most. This year we’re focusing on just three retailers, so we can collect and deliver faster than ever:

🛒 Dollarama

Two ways to give:
🎁 Donate new gift cards in $25 increments ($25, $50, $75, $100+)
💻 Give online by direct deposit to [email protected]. Please note it’s for the Holiday Gift Program so our Admin team can allocate it correctly.

Drop off a gift card:
📍 1881 Fairview Street, Units 4 & 5, Burlington (Staples Plaza, next to Mandarin)
🕘 Mon & Fri 9am to 3:30pm | Wed 9am to 7pm

📅 Please donate by Friday, December 4. The program launches shortly afterwards.

Current progress: $1,038 raised, 3% of our goal!

The Fall Market held during the past week at the Compassion Society offered clients the opportunity to choose some special gifts for themselves! There were a wonderful variety of donated items to choose from - including cozy wraps and quilts, slippers, backpacks and purses, perfume and aftershave, home decor, beauty and makeup, and more! 💝

A big thank you to all the donors who make these programs possible and to the terrific volunteers who made it all happen! We couldn’t do it without you! 🙏❤️

A big heartfelt thank-you to Mariellen and everyone at Pearl & Pine Retirement Residence for their incredible generosity and support! 💛

The residents came together to organize a clothing drive and raise funds to purchase 35 libs of much-needed children's socks, contributing an amazing 511 lbs of donations! 🤩🙏👏

We are so grateful for the kindness and community spirit behind this wonderful initiative. These thoughtful efforts help us support individuals and families in our community and make a meaningful difference in their lives.
