Namaste/ Jojolopa,

Canadian Newa Guthi (CNG) is pleased to share the successful completion of two important Newa cultural ceremonies.

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, Kayata Puja (Bratabandha) was performed at Pashupatinath Temple, Brampton — organized for the first time in Canada by Canadian Newa Guthi. Seven Batuk from different cities across Canada received their sacred mantra in the presence of their families, Guthiyar jyu haru, and CNG volunteers. The rituals were conducted smoothly and traditionally under the guidance of Gurujyu Yadhav Ram Jha, who led the ceremony in accordance with Newa culture and rituals, bringing happiness and pride to all families.

Similarly, on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, Ihi (Bel Bibaha) ceremony was conducted at the same venue. This sacred Newah ritual symbolizes the eternal union with Bel Fruit(as a form of Lord Vishnu), ensuring lifelong auspiciousness for Kanya. Seven Kanya participated with their families and relatives, celebrating this beautiful tradition with joy and cultural pride. The ceremony was also conducted by Gurujyu Yadhav Ram Jha following proper Newah rituals and traditions.

These ceremonies are deeply rooted in Newah heritage, preserving our identity, values, and traditions for future generations. We extend our heartfelt blessings and best wishes to all Batuk and Kanya for a prosperous and meaningful life.

CNG sincerely thanks all families for their trust and participation. Special gratitude to Guthiyar jyu haru, all volunteers, and executive members for their continuous support. Heartfelt appreciation to coordinator Gayatri jyu and all who contributed to the successful completion of these events.

🙏 Subhaye!

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who joined us for the 9th World Newah Day 2026, organized by Canadian Newa Guthi on March 28, 2026 in Georgetown, Ontario.

World Newah Day is a special occasion for us to come together and celebrate the culture, language, and heritage of the Newah community.

The program began with a welcome from Acting President Surendra Lal Shrestha, who spoke about the importance of unity and preserving our traditions. Program Coordinator Shiva Karanjit shared the purpose and preparation behind the event. Our Past President spoke about the meaning of the traditional Sukunda (oil lamp), and General Secretary Krishna Kayastha gave a brief introduction to the history, language, and identity of the Newah community.

We were pleased to welcome our Special Guest, Kristina Tesser Derksen, who shared her appreciation after experiencing the culture and community spirit, and thanked us for the invitation.

The event included traditional attire, language, food, and cultural performances. It was wonderful to see such active participation from everyone, which made the day truly memorable.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all organizers, volunteers, performers, and participants for making this event a success. Your support means a lot to us.

We look forward to coming together again in the future.
