U.S. Tariff Update (October 29/25 @ 15:30)
We wanted to update you on the status of deliveries to our US mills and the requirements resulting for the imposed US tariffs.
We have been in communication with US Customs and Port Authority, US mills, forestry contractors and other Marketing Boards. There are still some mixed messages. Some US mills have said that it would be best if all forest products, both tariffed and non-tariffed wood pass through a customs broker. We are still waiting for clarification on who is responsible to register an account with the customs broker and who pays for the associated fees. US Customs has told us that a paper manifest will be sufficient for the non-tariffed wood, although some crossings will not recognize the paper manifest and require an e-manifest from a broker.
As we know for now, tariffed wood is all softwood species, ash, maple, and cherry. Speaking with Global Affairs we are awaiting clarification as to why hardwood species are included in this US order.
All truckers will require a Standard Carrier Alpha Code (SCAC) number to register with the transportation officials and that number is needed by brokers to complete the e-manifest. There is a cost to register, and it could take up to a week for approval. The link for obtaining the SCAC code is: https://scaccode.com
We encourage anyone planning on sending wood to the US to contact YSC first for any updates on mills and border crossing requirements.
Mills:
We received word today that Woodland Pulp will stop accepting deliveries as of 6:00 pm EST Friday October 31, 2025.

On the Canadian side:
