What a lovely Tartan Day evening we had!

Great food, fantastic entertainment, and wonderful company — it really was one of those nights where everything just came together.

A big thank you to Nancy and Janice, along with the wonderful helpers at the Bathurst Heritage Museum, for all the work that went into organising such a special event. And thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a great atmosphere.

We were treated to Betty MacPherson’s Grave Situation — a touching piece of musical theatre about a Scottish lassie on the Bay of Chaleur who finds rejection, then love and acceptance far from the Highlands, with the help of local Irish and Acadian communities.

A special thank you to Kevin Mann and The Treblemakers for providing such brilliant entertainment afterwards — you really made the night.

And of course, the chicken bouillon, dessert, and tea/coffee just added to the whole warm, community feel of the evening.

📸 Photos from the evening are included below — have a look and see who you can spot! 😊

What a wonderful afternoon we had at our Tartan Day Highland Social & Tea Party! 🏴💙

Thank you to everyone who came out — it was such a joy to see so many smiling faces enjoying tea, coffee, and some truly lovely cakes! ☕🍰

We kicked things off in style with Craig on the bagpipes, setting the tone beautifully for our celebration. 🎶

A special thank you to the talented dancer from the Ann Landry School of Dancing, who wowed us with three beautiful performances - and three equally wonderful costumes. We were proud to present the School of Dancing with a $300 cheque as part of our ongoing efforts to support groups that promote Scottish heritage and culture.

Our own Julie then got everyone up and moving with two ceilidh dances — the Circassian Circle and Strip the Willow. Whether dancing or cheering from the sidelines, it looked like everyone had a brilliant time!

Thanks again to all who joined us — we can't wait to welcome you to our next event! 💃🕺🎉

Fancy a bit of Scottish fun? 💃🕺

Along with our selection of cakes, tea and coffee, we’ll be doing some Ceilidh dancing at our Tartan Day Highland Social — will one of them be this lovely dance called Strip the Willow?

It’s a fun dance that everyone can do, and way easier than it looks once you give it a go.

I’m sharing a video below so you can see what it’s all about!

📅 Sunday, April 6th
🕰 1:30–4:00 PM
📍 Bathurst Heritage Museum
🎟 $10 at the door — All welcome!

Whether you’ve danced it before or are a total beginner, we’ll walk you through it. Come join the fun — and wear some tartan if you can! 🏴💙

Going to a celidh? Let Robbie Shepherd take you through the dance in our step-by-step guide. Get familiar with the steps from more dances at http://bbc.in/1I...
