Great job by all members involved 💛

A huge thank you to York Regional Police for hosting a food drive in support of the Georgina Food Pantry on Friday, July 24th at Zehrs in Keswick! 💙💚

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, the food drive collected an amazing 483 lbs of food, valued at $1,791.93, along with an additional $743.66 in cash donations!

All food and funds collected will support our Children’s Breakfast Program, helping ensure local children and youth have access to nutritious breakfast foods to start their day.

Thank you to York Regional Police, Zehrs and every community member who stopped by to make a donation. Your support is helping make a meaningful difference for local children and families. 🥣❤️

Together, we are helping kids start their day with the food they need to learn, grow and thrive.

We were honoured to welcome riders from the Canada 911 Ride Foundation as they completed their incredible 3 day journey.

This fundraiser demonstrates the strength, unity, and solidarity of Ontario’s emergency services community, and its shared commitment to honouring first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

Thank you for keeping their memories alive, standing alongside their families, and showing unwavering support for those who serve.

To those who serve, and to those we have lost, you will never be forgotten.

We will never forget our fallen hero Constable Douglas Tribbling who tragically died on August 21, 1984 as a result of injuries sustained in the line of duty. Constable Tribbling was a 13-year veteran of York Regional Police and was 49 years old, with only 2 years until retirement.

On the night of August 19, Constable Tribbling responded to a burglar alarm at a Markham computer company. He called for backup when he discovered the door smashed in and proceeded to investigate the premises. When his backup arrived only minutes later, Constable Tribbling was found with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest while his own weapon was still holstered. He was rushed to North York General Hospital in critical condition. Almost two days later, Constable Tribbling succumbed to his injuries in hospital without regaining consciousness.

Constable Tribbling began his career as a clerk with the Markham Township Police Department in 1956. He was an exemplary officer, dedicated to his profession, and was quickly promoted to the rank of Detective.

Today we take time to remember Constable Lewis R. Durant from Markham Township Police who was only 22 years of age and had only served 18 months when he was killed in the line of duty on August 18, 1956.

At about 2:00am, Constable Durant came across a parked car on the gravel shoulder of Woodbine Avenue. After parking his cruiser behind the suspicious vehicle, Constable Durant approached the car. While questioning the driver, a southbound vehicle struck Constable Durant, killing him.

In just three days, Canada has lost three police officers. Behind each loss is a family, a circle of friends, colleagues, and communities now facing unimaginable grief.

YRPA extends our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and coworkers of the officers from Hamilton Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service, and the RCMP.

To our members and fellow first responders: take care of each other. Check in, listen, and remind one another that it’s okay to ask for help.
