Our MADD York Region Chapter volunteers are at the Honda Indy in Markham this weekend, with our partners York Regional Police.

Volunteers Meera and Jill are bringing our no-impaired-driving message to fans at the weekend event, and sharing in some of the excitement trackside!

Yesterday’s ninth annual Golf Fore MADD tournament at King’s Cardinal Redcrest course involved lots of hard work and preparation by a great many volunteers from our MADD York Region Chapter.

Past president Angela Waskawich along with current president Rebecca Blight manned the registration table, along with her partner Kyle. MADD volunteers Marney Beck Robinson, Meera Sammy and Dmitri Bogojavlenskis grabbed a coffee before heading out to their posts on the links.

Moosa Kidwai, Rey Estiphan and Christian Yeboah sold raffle tickets during our luncheon and helped distribute the prizes to golfers, while more members of our volunteer enjoyed their lunches.

And one of our chapter volunteers, Udai Anand, had his business, Prepared Strength, sponsor the Poker Hand on the tenth hole.

Combined with great support from many golfers, including a team from York Regional Police Association, it all adds up to a successful golf tournament to support victims of impaired driving.

Prize giveaways during lunch are always a highlight of our MADD York Region Chapter golf day, with MADD board member Dmitri Bogojavlenskis, past president Angela Waskawich, and MC Todd Snooks handing out one of many prize packages.

Key breakfast and lunch sponsors were acknowledged with large signage - we couldn’t present this fundraiser to help victims of impaired driving without their support.

At hole 18, MADD York Chapter members Josephine Neville and Marney Beck Robinson took team photos of the golfers and provided water on this very humid day.

Our lunch MC Todd Snooks also enjoyed his day on the links with his team, and couldn't resist joking around with auxiliary officers helping out at the tournament.

What a great day to take a swing at impaired driving!

It didn’t even rain on Cardinal Redcrest golfers, participating in the ninth annual Golf Fore MADD tournament today in King.

MC for the golf luncheon was York Region Police Constable Todd Snooks, who is a police representative of the MADD York Region Chapter. Former MADD York Chapter police liaison Sarah Riddell (white T-shirt) golfed as part of a foursome, as did several officers from neighbouring Peel Police.

Among the many golfers was Jennifer Neville-Lake and golf partner on the putting green, wearing special vision glasses designed to simulate the effects of driving while under the influence. Jennifer is our chapter’s MADD National liaison, and with them is MADD volunteer Meera Sammy.
